How can we use the character guides to create characters? For example, the base male blender file?

Also, I'm not too familiar with Blender and I use Cinema 4D. Could I just export an FBX from blender and import it into C4D?

Thank you.

Don't understand what you mean by 'character guide'.
do you mean how do you get the base male to appear in blender? You have to import it.
If you havent already done so you need to enable .obj or .fbx importing depending what file types you want. It may not have the option as default.
Both file types are pretty common in game development, so you may as well enable both extension types.
Go to user preferences, then to addons. You need to manually check the box to allow .fbx and .obj import.
If you navigate to the base male file, you should then have the option to open it in the 3d blender viewport.

C:\Program Files\GameGuruMAX\Max\Guides\Characters

In this folder are two files;

base female blender.rar
base male blender.rar

Our lead artist has converted the base male and female character to Blender format. They include some basic animations as well as mouth phenome animations. One thing to note, the normal maps for these characters are in DirectX format which is what GameGuru MAX uses, but Blender uses the OpenGL format. This means you will need to invert the green channel of the normal map for them to display correctly in Blender. We hope you find these of use.

Yes, you need to unzip the .rar files with winrar or 7zip...

Personally i had difficulty opening the .blend file.
The .fbx file imported fine for me, however.

I can't stand texturing in blender, too much guesswork. If you can spare it, Substance Painter is the best 120 bucks you will spend.
