inside, it's brightly lit on all 8 internal levels. I once had that same problem and believe I did solve it ( other than by setting the environment to "night" ) with other engines an possibly as well with Classic, but I can't remember what to do, and especially not how to do it in MAX.

I assume you have a shader assigned in the .fpe file?

hmmm... here's the content of the fpe as found in the conversion dir (where the corresponding .dbo is located)

..Damn. I'm afraid, we'll have to hold it for a while.
As I just noticed when I attempted to create the screenshot 3COM requested ( I re-imported the thing afresh, lest any operations I already performed on it in GGMAX should interfere), it seems that the "well imported version" of said pyramid is NOT the version as originally distributed by the TGC Store, but probably one I had already worked over for another engine.
The original version from TGC Store is by no means "imported well" at all by GGMAX ( just one plain wall - albeit textured - arrives in GGMAX.)

Thanks anyway to both of you ( good call, 3COM, for the screenshot ;| What I WANT is the exact view Tazman shows in his video for the pyramid, with your trusty torch as your best and only friend. What I'm getting is every place inside being lit perfectly to, say, perform medical surgery ;] No shadow, no blur, no overly brightness - and not menacing at all.

Hope it was MilkShape that I used on it, then ...

Ok. Problem's solved. After having checked out that max can handle inside lighting (or rather: the lack thereof) well after importing another enterable model from CLASSIC and some faffing about with milkshape on the original payramid model, I could import it well and got what I wanted. And with MAX, it is the darkest and crispest version of that maze I ever beheld.
