Is there a way to orbit around a selected object while editing ?

No, they're looking for a way to ORBIT a SELECTION. Moving the mouse moves the camera about the camera's axis and then requires you to use the WASD keys to move about. In many programs, there's a way to ORBIT a selection so, by moving the mouse, you move AROUND the object select, enabling you to easily see it from all sides without having to do fancy maneuvering via WASD+mouse to achieve something similar.

Never been a problem! Orbit option ive never used in a level editor mainly only in model making software where its fiddly.

I use it all the time. Use it in both a modeling program and in game editing software, like Unreal. It's very useful. But that's not the point (whether you or I find it useful or not). The OP asked if there's a way to do it in MAX.
