Hi all,
So I have installed the EA version of GGMAX and had a little play with what we have so far, to confirm I take it we still cannot -

- Install into Max any animated models or 3rd party ANIMATED character models. Static models only.
- Add extra parts to the Character creator like helmets, heads, clothing etc?
- Create or bring over Weapons from Classic GG.
- Bring over any animated characters from classic GG.

And lastly I have looked but cannot find any guides to do the above....... yet. Just wanted to confirm the current status of the software.

Many thanks

Had you tried importing the model from the GGMax importer?
There you can create the animation slots for the mesh, in your case a char.
What I used to do is import the char>close GGMax>tweak the fpe file, and open GGMax>try the char in a map, of course, this is temporary since as you already know most of the features should be improved and/or finished.
Note: animations in GGMax do no work as in GG; here animations are name-based rather than frame-based as in GG, i.e in GGMax a door anims might name "open" and "close"; as you can see, is not the engine but maybe and I say maybe, your lack of info about it.

It is not yet doable, but Lee told us about providing all the needed info, and even some templates to work our mesh parts for CC and our weapons.

As you can see, just a lack of info.

Thanks for the confirmation 3COM, hopefully we will get these guides and abilities soon....

Otherwise GGMAX will end up in the same pile as FPSX10

Why x10, it was shelved for an entirely different reason.
One of the top reasons it was shelved and from what I could remember, lee needed to create different version of DBpro for the development of x10.
Not a lot of people were willing to upgrade their systems to make it x10 ready. First you needed windows vista in order to run x10 and upgrade to DX10 card. X10 was released at a time where there was no reason as yet to ditch windows xp at the time, and windows vista wasn't the best.

Not sure how you are comparing the two ?

Well it seems the weekly update has gone a little wayward, watching Lee play a demo which plays plays out like every other demo and a raft of the same questions does not feel like moving forward with development. I really thought we would get progression as we have done for weeks, months since the engine was advertised. In the voice of Han Solo “i have a bad feeling about all of this”

It all seems familiar and if anyone has seen the Lee interview the last question was very interesting - “ why has no game using the engine (classic) ever been published” will Max go the same way ?

I really hope not but have we all paid just to keep the old ball and dream rolling???

The live streams are not indicative of the development of MAX. There's a reason the last several broadcasts have been showcasing demos and not talking about advancements or new features - for a few weeks now, and including this week, they have been in total bug buster mode. It was their plan (which they announced) to work solely on bugs until April. There has already been one update released and I know another is coming today (provided no showstoppers are discovered in the build). That sounds like "moving forward" and "progress" to me. It's really difficult to do a live broadcast and talk about bugs that have been fixed.

In any case, we should start seeing new stuff introduced again some time in April and onward. Not all development is flashy. A lot of it is grunt work, under-the-hood, fixing stuff. And that's what's going on right now.

Oh, and there are games that have been published with Classic. I believe that DK Productions has two of them on Steam, "Hunted, One Step Too Far" being one of them.

Right now the priority is ensuring everyone is up and running after the EA release and yes until they start implementing the new stuff the current streams are more like fillers but dont be fooled. There is a ton of stuff going on in the backgrounds.

On a good note we get proper weekly Q&A sessions ... When have we ever had that before.
No one ever really leaves.
