Why are models that I import are located here:
Users\USERNAME\Documents\GameGuruApps\GameGuruMAX\Files\entitybank\user

Instead of:
C:\Program Files\GameGuruMAX\Max\Files\entitybank\user

Thanks!

MAX stores all of your own stuff separate from it's own installation directory. This is to keep your own stuff (your models, levels, etc.) separate from the official installation. This makes it easier to backup and protect your own work, etc.

I believe you can change that location by going to Edit>Settings, clicking on the Advanced tab and under Save Game Folder Location, checking Allow the Game Save Folder to be changed.

Nothing of yours is supposed to go in the core.
That gets wiped and updated on the Downloadable version.
Im assuming the same thing happens with Steam.

Everything you add, create or import should go into
Documents\GameGuruApps\ etc
No one ever really leaves.

Firstly so that you don't lose your custom stuff when you update, and secondly because that is the correct way to do things in Windows now for security reasons. Program Files is supposed to be a protected folder that hold your installed software, it is not meant to hold media and the like, and to stop it causing security issues you would have to disable security on Program Files to use it to so which is a very bad thing to do. You will notice that most software now uses the user/document folder for saves and media now to prevent security issues.

Because you are using the default path, rather than choosing your own.
Anyway, as pointed above that is a writable area, and it is safest to save there.
I.e. If I have a mesh named mytable, when importing it I already have created a folder in \GameGuruApps\GameGuruMAX\Files\entitybank\tables with every mesh texture there, plus the, X, FBX, OBJ, etc, then I choose that path when importing mytable mesh.
