Do you think the backlash from the BF community is justified?

Personally, I think it is. It was a pretty disappointing title.

Yes? Not a very useful comment on a thread that is trying to start a conversation.

If he wanted to start a conversation then maybe some context, and background information is in order, cos i haven't got a scooby doo what he's talking about

Well from what I understand, the game Battlefield 2042 has been getting tons of backlash from players because of a lot of bugs, missing content, etc. it has gotten so bad that EA is considering making it free to play.

To be fair, I haven't played it. But I have heard a lot of reports that it is terrible. Even Steam has been issuing refunds outside their normal refund policy. It seems Dice and EA totally ignored the expectations of the BF fanbase and the pre-launch advertising was perhaps a little misleading. I have read that the game is full of bugs and lacks many features that fans have come to expect.

The situation is so dire that many people seem to expect Battlefield 2042 to be the one that kills off the franchise for good.

Sorry to anyone who finds the subject pointless. As a fledgling game developer, I found it useful to follow the unfolding story. I mean, if you can't learn from the mistakes of giants such as EA and Dice then who can you learn from?

Does it matter? I suppose no more or less than anything else posted in 'Off Topic' - gees.

I must apologize for being so dismissive the other day. I was in a bad place when I replied and should have known better.

As for the topic at hand...

Perhaps that is a good thing? I mean,:

At some point every good thing ran its course, isn't it so? I was never big into battlefield, something about the games never clicked with me but a lot of people my age have fond memories of the older titles and the matches they used to play. In fact, I only glanced at the comments section when this game was announced and noticed a lot of people talk about just that, nostalgia.

Now Battlefield 1 is more recent but it also did a lot of things different. After that there is another steep decline, at least from what I can say.

As for the state of the game? Well, games are increasingly more complex to make, way more people involved and yet the same or shorter dead lines. Somethings gotta give eventually.

Wow! It didn't know there were so many Battlefield titles! Perhaps the whole franchise is getting quite jaded after all. I might start my own FPS franchise to replace it. Yeah, right... in my dreams!

and of all of them Battlefield Heroes was he best in my opinion. I loved the cartoon style and the comedy aspect.

If I ever I did attempt to create a franchise, it might be:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1516450/Red_Mist_Rivers_of_Blood/ ...

shameless ad for my recent 2D platformer, "Red Mist" (available on Steam).

Well to be fair, 21 of the titles listed in that image are DLC, so most of those aren’t actual games. But there still are a lot of BF games. I believe 16 battlefield games in total including the new one.

Your game has some impressive 2D art! Did you design everything yourself? I’m a big fan of platformer games

Thank you! I designed most of the graphics. Some of the backgrounds are purchased assets.

Have you seen the requirements for this game?

My old i7 in 8-stream mode at 3.9GHz was barely getting 60fps in Battlefield 5.

That's how tortured the i7 4790 will be, isn't it? Is it just me, or should the recommended ones be at least i5 10400F?

Let's be objective, the officially listed processors are clearly not enough for a comfortable game. For launch only.
