I must apologize for being so dismissive the other day. I was in a bad place when I replied and should have known better.
As for the topic at hand...

Perhaps that is a good thing? I mean,:
At some point every good thing ran its course, isn't it so? I was never big into battlefield, something about the games never clicked with me but a lot of people my age have fond memories of the older titles and the matches they used to play. In fact, I only glanced at the comments section when this game was announced and noticed a lot of people talk about just that, nostalgia.
Now Battlefield 1 is more recent but it also did a lot of things different. After that there is another steep decline, at least from what I can say.
As for the state of the game? Well, games are increasingly more complex to make, way more people involved and yet the same or shorter dead lines. Somethings gotta give eventually.
