I played around a bit creating outdoor environment and the terrain editings tools with the higher polygon meshes, feels and acts rather crude. While you can get really nice cliffs and such going there simply isn't enough brushes to go round.
Its kinda like they intended you set up the terrain with setting on a new map, and pretty much use that for the level with some editing here and there when needed. However I feel the bushes isn't nearly good enough to edit the terrain on a grand scale as needed.
Which is rather disappointing, I see no reason why additional brushes can't be added, that would make terrain scenery much better and more natural looking. There should definitely been more complex brushes, I for one would love to be able to use a polygon reduction and polygon add tool and block shape brush, a vein brush, as well as selecting the bush shape like octogon, pentagon ect you would like to paint with.
I also find it stupid that I am not able to create a flat terrain at a certain height, the default flat one as far as I know can't be edited, setting the terrain to lowest level which is zero also means you can only edit the terrain up and not dig down as the terrain system doesn't slow digging below the default level.
It would be overall more natural painting experience in general. It has become abundantly clear that TGC hasn't done level editing on a large scale as lots of bugs related to large scale editing occurred, well not really bugs but rather limitations, which could have been avoided if some large scale level editing or at least having a look at what the limitations are and if they would impact the overall design process.
None the less it is still a pretty impressive piece of software but just some annoying little niggles with regards to imposed limitations having a negative impact, which could technically be worked around.
Finally iam in no way confused with regards to active subscribers and subscribers, if you actually look at stats provided you would have noticed many will note users who have not renewed their subscription is not included. Which actually means, WOW at it peak had 46 million paid subscriptions, with wow you had to buy time cards which would allow 30 60 and 180 days of access.
Active subscribers means users that has played during a certain time in this case measured in a monthly cycle. It is like saying steam has 300 million users but only 30 million active users. (Yes these are fake numbers but just an example that I completely understand stand the difference between active and inactive subscribers).
So you could indeed have that many paid subscribers if at the height of popularity many had 6 months subscriptions, considering popular it was at the time and considering the 10 billion lifetime revenue I don't find it particularly difficult that they did indeed had a lot of paid subscribers. However it should be noted that the 12 million was peak active subscribers. 46 million subscribers was just the number of paid subscriptions. That is before the expansion packs came along, but it isnt hard to believe 46 million peak paid subscribers as some expansion packs sold as many 3.2 million or more copies on the first day of release. I think I have a good handle on what is active paid, and lapsed subscriptions.
