Is there an easy way to customise the health and ammo HUDs straight 'out of the box' in Max?

Right now there is only the Storyboard for Menu creation but there is no easy way or in built editor for huds at this time.
Whether we will get that later down the road i have no idea.

Custom Hud's are possible in MAX, if TGC are not adding the feature i will make a standalone Hud editor, Asset Manager's Hud designer works for most of the Huds in MAX with a little tweak here and there

@GraPhix, that looks really cool. If that sort of feature doesn't get implemented I think your app will be a must-have. I don't think there's anything wrong with the default HUDs. The issue for me is the stigma that GameGuru seems to have with the Steam community. A lot of them will see those HUDs, instantly recognise them be instantly turned off a game, no matter how good it actually is.

Plus, we need to be able to customise as much as possible.

@lordjulian
A HUD editor built into the engine really is a must have to fit in with the easy maker MAX is aiming for.
If the Storyboard is anything to go by, it would be something Preben could pull off easily. It would tie in nicely with the various genre's flagged for MAX as well - Plus it just should be there

It would be a great question for the live broadcast.

@Preben @LeeBamber this is not a feature request, tis a game maker requirement

Agreed. And not just swapping out the graphics, but placement on the screen, too. And with RPG elements coming, there might be more things we might need to include in a HUD (magic/mana, etc.).

Of course - an 'import own image file' would be a must.

Mate i gave it a test and works perfectly but to be honest i would not continue at the moment.

There lay the problem.
Even if you released it today chances are users will wait to see if one gets implemented.
Great effort and amazing tool but really not worth it all until there is clarification whether there will be one or not.

@GraPhix ..
However .. Not sure if you have finished it completely but i will chuck you 20 bucks for a copy if your dropping it. The fact it works so well right Now for Max and for Classic as well is really handy in my case.

Ideally, TGC should include a HUD editor in MAX. It should be basic and function, just like the other storyboard stuff does. But that does not mean you should stop working on your application. What you should do, imo, it make something even better. Why not? What they currently have is very, very basic. I mean, the Title Screen storyboard doesn't allow you to add any new buttons, there's no means to adjust game settings, to configure controls (or to even get to a screen to see what the controls are, etc.). So, there's room here for someone to create a tool to provide these sorts of things. What TGC is giving us is very, very barebones. Someone can came along and make something that gives us a lot more control and I am sure many would buy that. I know I would.

@GraPhiX

I would like to test your product for custom HUDs. However I encounter a small problem : I cannot export the scripts, because access is denied. It's a new SSD, with a new Windows 10. Most of the functions give an error message relating to an "Access Denied".

So, I used your program in Admin mode, but it doesn't change anything. Were you aware of this problem ?

Initially, he insists on having the way to GameGuru. But I don't want to install it. I only have GGMax EA.

After you put the Activation code in the next window will prompt for your paths, if you do not have Classic Installed and you accept the default paths then yes you will get an error, also with the paths did the app automatically find your MAX install and writable folder location, again if you have put them somewhere other than default you need to change the location to suit.

If you do not have Classic installed accept the default location for it but do not try to create Huds for Classic that will crash the app, for MAX just double check the location where HudGen thinks it is installed and adjust accordingly.

It will be easier to uninstall and re install HudGen no need to run as admin the Application will default to admin.

You do need an activation code to run HudGen i have no record of an activation code for you !
