I actually find installing the core and adding the assets as i want to use them a much cleaner install.
Whacking 20 gig of assets in the core then running to me feels like it has to initially scan all that first making it feel sluggish on the first launch.
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..
