Anyone know how to read the map file?
I just opened a map I had been working on, went to re-save it under a new name--
after the refresh- now everything's gone. (There are two objects left) The left panel
says missing items. I need to read the data or something to see what it's looking for
to populate the map because it's not supplied in the editor. Any suggestions?

BTW, I can keep on opening the old map and it's back again, just not on a renamed
map. Help defend my base!

There should be a .bak file of the same name .
Copy it and try renaming that to .fpm and see if that helps ..
If there are missing items you should have a .log file also in the mapbank folder pointing to where the models should be.
I would check that as well.

This is a really odd type of brokeness of GG here.
1> Yesterday did a verify files on Steam then shut down to attempt new today.
2> So fresh boot up and (all files verified) but the results remain the same still.
This is what the log file says;
"MISSING MEDIA:
levelbank\testmap\ebe2.fpe=replacelevelbank\testmap\ebe2.fpe
"
I never touch the ebe stuff for many years, and most certainly not on these maps in question.

This actually showed up in another map a few days ago-- but didn't effect the re-saving
or functionality behavior on the map. I was able to continue. A few days earlier I got:
"MISSING MEDIA:
levelbank\testmap\ebe42.fpe=replacelevelbank\testmap\ebe42.fpe
"
This makes it look like a true bug inside GG, and not an issue with my system folders. But what?
The weirdest part is this: the only change to the map that activates the issues is that I change
up the script on one single object. That causes (mysteriously) for the map to become empty
/minus two objects/ upon save. ( Remember this is in the editor, not in a test session! )
3> Definitely the script exists in the main script folder, and runs GREAT in test session.
But if I save the original map in a different name but do NOT swap scripts it works.
Very odd. I cannot progress if I cannot edit my scripts that need de-bugging.

Must I revert back several versions of GG??

@ Gubby
Back up your fpm file before doing nothing.

1- Change the ext to your fpm file to zip file so it should look: mymap.zip
2- extract the zip file - password = mypassword
3- Open the generated folder unzipped, there should be a file named map.ent open it with notepad or even better notepad++
there you will find the missing media listed., though.

Thanks 3com, synchro.
I tried what you said, looked through those files as suggested. The entities ARE listed in those data files.

Might have better luck now with the object is the one disappearing, now loaded. They just need a closer look a the newest GG versions to see why that happens.
