Dear friends,

I have exactly the same problem as this thread :

But unfortunatly the subect was closed and i dont see any solution. (i have an old install of a bundle)

It seems there is a problem of shader file missing.

What is the solution ? Why does Steam utility does not detect the missing files and import them ? could it happen with others packs ? for some packs i have no example maps.

Thanck you for your kindness to tell me how to solve the issue or indicate a link or a way to update with Steam.

Because i am actually taking a lot of pleasure using GameGuru and i need the classics library working fine (even for gameguru serie 1 tutorial).

And thanks for the author (rick ?) concerning humans points of view for creating maps. They are very usefull.

If you have an old install of the bundle then try this ..
Try unticking the DLC pack in Steam so it removes it.
Reboot then re-tick the pack in steam so it downloads the latest version.
See if that helps ..

I didnt foud a ticking zone to apply your hint.

While searching i took a screen capture informations.

I think i am not searching at the good place. The ticks are in the app or in the web page ?

Because i didnt see them. The best screen is the one attached this message

Thank you to give me precision cause i am lost and steam is very big and all menus have redondant informations or unclear menu name.

You Click "Manage my Dlc's "
Then unticking the box will uninstall it
Reboot
Go back and tick the Box and it will reinstall it.
Reboot
Then try again.
Which version are you using ( it should tell you on the splash screen )

My start menu show me this screen

It's not like your. I did search and i didnt find an equivalent of your screen but i saw a *lot* of advertive. When you encounter difficulties you dont appreciate advertise.

When i saw all the menu point i didn find DLCF menu

Where must i go ?

Thank you !

With you video i found the DLC menu.

I have unticked the Expansion pack because that 's were are Classics models.

But nothin disappear in Classics directory
(my install is in my D drive)
D:\steam\steamapps\common\Game Guru\Files\entitybank\
136 Mo (143 454 208 octets)
Nothing change even after alf an hour
So i dont thing it will import new things.
So i took the risk to move the directoy in another disk.
I have checked it was totally removed.
I put the tick on Expansion pack to reinstall it.
At the end i have ckecked and Classic was back updated.
But the error is still there (glowing problem)
So it mean the corrupted data come from the repository since a lot of years(steam or gameguru ?)
Maybe it affect only france ? or some other country.
So wats the solution ?

I never go to steam, and don't run the steam desktop app almost never, just to help someone.
I never try to remove anything via steam, just make it manually; so, not familiar with it.
As you see not the appropriate user to help you with that.
Anyway, and following my intuition as I did before to find the DLC, I would verify the files, after unchecking any option.

Hi 3com,

If you want i can create a little archive with only the rocken trances file. It's only 69ko skrinked and it's isit Nature directory.
The safest to check my file and your fil (supposing your are correct) is to put them in two differents directry beror compare the binarys

Are you ok or somebedy ok ?

When I said "Verify files" I'm referring todo it via your steam desktop app. (refer to the pics below)

CLOSE GG
1- Run your steam app desktop
2- Select Gameguru on the Left panel > RMB > properties.
3- follow the steps.
4- Wait till done.

Thank you a lot, 3com,

During this process my GameGuru has been upated with 65 files.
So you have eliminate 65 problems wich may have happen to me in these packages :
Buildings Packs, Cartoon, Cityscape, CityscapePBR, Collectables, Construction site pack, Fixtures, Foliage, Scenary

Well, 65 problems corrected due to you. Thank you again.

Concerning the glowing problem i's still the same.

I join you a screen copy. (i put another item from another pack to see difference.)

(about your signature, is it possible to know what mean HTH ? because in France it's a big socity in swiming pool accessory)

I've no idea about EBE.
I don't use stock meshes often, just to fill a scene with one item here and there. Usually make my own meshes.
Don't mess with GG lately, too busy with GGMax right now.

Anyway, since I think most of the items present on the thread you has linked above, I guess most of then belong to building pack, so, I make a map in GG and place all the building and then work fine for me.



Maybe you need a fresh install.

Most are glowing because the .fpe is missing this command
effect = effectbank\reloaded\entity_basic.fx
Once added it rectifies it but no idea why it doesnt have the glow effect for everyone ?
Unless it was accidently changed on the server at some point ?

No nature folder from the Classic package ..
Its the classic package objects i assume he is having issues with.

With all your hard work you gave me the solution.

So now it works fine, you can see this giant piece of art.

You made GG great again in my PC.

So now i can go back to my learning of GameGuru serie 1.
I have a lot of fun with GG and i am impatient to play with particle and lot of others things. But dont be afraid i search a lot before asking.

I dont need a lot of items in classic pack so i will proceed piece by piece.

If you have future problems with entities that look odd, make sure the .fpe file (where the entity is located (files/entitybank) has the correct values. If there is no effect line make sure it looks like this "effect = effectbank\reloaded\entity_basic.fx". You can edit the .fpe file with windows notepad.

There is also a line called materialindex. This attaches a certain material to the entity that will tell the engine what default PBR values to apply, which gun impact effect and which footstep sounds. These are the values:



If a prop has a wrong value, it can appear off. A lot of entities from these pack are hold overs from fpscreator. So some might have a value of "4" (glass) and look shiny when they are not supposed to. Just change that to whatever is appropriate.

Unfortunately a lot of the legacy assets have missing or wrong details in there fpe's, Asset Manager as a tool to update these files, i have made this tool a Standalone application , this will be a Free tool, Please copy your folder you wish to scan to your desktop (or other folder) i would advise not scanning the GameGuru Default entitybank, this tool is only to be used on 'legacy' folders i.e. classics etc..

Classics and the mega packs are somewhat affected. However most issues are relatively easy to smooth over.
