I thought some of you might be interested in what I've been up to, which is taking a break from developing the Cogwheel Chronicles game to re-charge the creative batteries.

This video shows the "Bistro" test demo model from NIVIDIA 'ORCA' - a model (yes it is just one multi material model) originally developed in Amazon Lumberyard engine (which is now O3DE) as a showcase level for GDC 2017.

It is used as a test asset for loading and rendering - and it is running here in an evolved version of Game Guru Classic at a stable 60 FPS.

The FBX model is 117 MB, 2.832 million polys and 3.112 million vertices. With 1,591 meshes, the dds textures come to about 1.1 GB (14,319 texture references) in total.

It's one of the test models that the author of the Wicked Engine has used, so I set myself a challenge to get it running, to brush up on c++ and game engine build ...

The rendering is not yet perfect by any means, but still, some good progress being made so far.

Cheers.
