MAX is NOT dependant on OneDrive, Microsoft OneDrive is a part of Windows 10 Install.
By default if you sign into windows with a Microsoft account OneDrive will set itself up to backup your 'user' folder this includes pictures, documents and desktop, I have seen applications that use the 'Documents' folder fail because of the 'live' synch of said backup folder, Photoshop, Visual Studio, Quiel Suite....etc to name a few any app that puts a large amount of data in any of the folders while the program is running can have hiccups waiting for OneDrive to synchronise.
This may or may not be your issue i was just pushing the idea out there to help you diagnose your particular issue.
Like i said from the beginning it looks like a permissions issue, it looks as though MAX cannot find or write data to your 'Documents' folder.
Welcome to the real world!
