I believe it will. Although the betas are early in the game, I am just a little excited about it's potential. I have been testing out a few of my custom models created in GG Jr, some of which are in the store and I am impressed how well MAX works with the earlier entities.

The video is a little fuzzy but not A MAX problem. The beep, beep in the video is not intended, forgot my microphone was on at least I know IT works.

I must admit, when it comes to fixing the problems we know exist, my expectations on coding tasks ahead, my excitement does diminish somewhat. I'm sure it will be an adventure...

I get the feeling people have very high expectations of Max. I am more realistic, but if the pace continues as is, it may well be very nice in time for the release date. It's not going to be Unreal by any margin, but it has potential, while being a lot easier to get into. I'm still waiting to see how it looks in December.

As far as I know, have we yet to see a good demo of moving dynamic lights?
A few more valuable scripting functions added would go a long way.

What we got so far above GGJR is --
better visuals, bigger maps, and bigger memory- right?
Also new particles-- not a bad obtainment though.
I think Lee will keep moving forward so it should shine nicely.

The problem with that is, max isn't using its own rendering engine this time, it is using a engine that was coded and tweaked over several years.Considering what the rendering looks like in the wicked engine, we should expect similar results, and you can't blame users for expecting that. Max isn't quite there yet, a couple of issues regarding the rendering, which if off. It isn't quite there yet and looks a little worse then classic at the present time, but Iam sure it will improve in due course

In what way do you mean.
I could probably get one moving now with an old GG script ?

Beta 3 seems to work well for me with custom models from GGC. All of my custom entities are stored in a single folder in the GGC entitybank (contains over 25 sub-folders).
I have copied that folder into the MAX entitybank folder. Now in MAX when I want the entity from a particular sub-folder I can just type the name of the main folder into the entity search box and all of the sub-folders are displayed for selection.

Example:

Selection from selected main folder

Max does fix what I did not like about GG jr. So for me, Max will be a must after a year or two.

1. better terrain painting
2. better grass
3. option for small terrain
4. better graphics, graphic options
5. better ui

6. standalone multiplayer option - this is probably not going to be real standalone support, just the simple mp we already have in GG jr but one can dream

7. love the new terrains palettes to

i was playing around with lights recently and they still need some work in Max but yes, it's looking much more promising than classic (once the feature is fleshed out a bit)

as you can see there's some render issues and trying to change the light angle by script doesn't work
when Max gets lights a bit more sorted i already have plans to release a custom script to allow much more control on your lights
