Hi All,

For all pre-order users, find Alpha Build 6.1 uploaded to your Products area, ready for testing. Thanks for all the feedback so far. Don't worry that we are not responding to individual reports at the moment, as it's very often the case we know about the issues and are working through them. When we start to run out of our own list, we can then raid the list you have been amassing

In this build, we have enabled the VR test game button and added in the seven stock weapons from Classic so you can check out the first draft of how we can support Classic weapons in a VR experience. Still have plenty of tweaks to make to the VR session, and some challenges about where to place HUD and other features (such as how to change weapons in VR), but with the bulk of the back-end done these tasks are the fun ones!

We have also enabled the save standalone, which how collects and exports the required files to the new writable folder area (which by default is GameGuruApps\GameGuruMAX\My Games\*), though running the final standalone game is far from finished (as it turns out there are a few tight internal loops in the old GameGuru Classic which does not play nicely with the way Wicked loops about, but we are close to restoring all title pages and resource loading from the exported files).

The last two modules not present in the alpha are Terrain and Multiplayer. Once these are in, and all modules are tightened up, we will be ready to enter the beta phase and will start formalizing bug reports through GitHub Issues Board so we can respond directly to beta issues as they unfold. For now, no need to report specific bugs, but we certainly appreciate feedback on the general direction, especially the new MAX specific features we are introducing.
GameGuru Classic will continue to be supported with bug fixes and functionality additions.

Still cant walk around single skin level ,and locking up my comp to the point it just freezes up

After trying to save a level, GGMax throws this error, the memory cannot be read, as a result of very high consumption of 11 GB ram memory, as you can see in the image below. All this after trying to write to the My Documents folder.
The strange thing is that the level was saved and is playable/editable.

I tested this version 6.01 it's going to be really short !

I short therm, it doesn't work anymore !

5.9 i imported my heavy obj file object door, with the pbr materials in one click i played 8h importing during hours numerous time different heavy OBJ files !!

NOW with the version 6.0 & 6.01, IMPOSSIBLE to load the entity fbx OR obj in the engine, i import the object inside the engine, it's visible with the textures then i try to load the object in the scene nothing works, thumbnail is not generated, object is not there !
IF I TRY TO CHANGE THE PATH AND CREATE A FOLDER IN my C:\GameGuruMAX\Max\Files\entitybank\user
GG MAX CRASHES ALL THE TIME !
VERSION 6.01 IMPOSSIBLE TO USE !!§
THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT PRESENT IN THE V5.9 ( see my review in the forum ) !
I installed GG in C:\GameGuruMAX....

i have window10 32gb ram corsair 3333 ghz, 11gb ati 1080 ti... ssd 500gb nvm2 +1tb
Nothing works, end of story !

I also uninstalled & reinstalled in the default folder, SAME RESULT !
tried to import, nothing works !

HERE: C:\Program Files (x86)\GameGuruMAX\Max\Files\entitybank\user
i have three folders inside:
charactercreatorplus
ebestructures
imported

the three folders are empty !
looks like GG-MAX doesn't even recognize his own installation folders when you read the errors messages !

nothing is created when i try to import a fbx or Obj file !
so only solution.... delete, uninstall and wait a miracle in the next update !!!!

Basically i dont think its setup yet.
They have just set the new pathing system. The fact that it worked for you in 5.9 but is a different setup in 6 and 6.1 should give you a clue to the fact its still being worked on. Perhaps wait for the beta i do not think Alpha is ideal for you.
Your gonna give yourself a heart attack at this rate.

I also would suggest you wait till after September 30th. Early alphas of this nature will have their set of problems. As expected.

We know about it having write issues in the DEFAULT install folder!

You need to install to "C:\GameGuruMAX" folder, when it installs, by changing the install location from default to "C:" drive, not "C:\Program Files (x86)" and not "C:\Program Files" in the setup installer.

It's not about changing the path to where imported entities are stored, but actually where you INSTALL Max itself. Again, this is due to a write permissions issue that they need to address. Your issues is probably due to an issue with the alpha related to changing the path for entities within the MAX editor. But this has nothing to do with where you were told to INSTALL the software, as Fritz pointed out. And has others have pointed out, MAX is in ALPHA. That means some things don't work because they are broken, some things don't work because they are partially implemented, and somethings don't work because they are not even in the software yet.

Which is funny, because plenty of us have it working. I can import models, apply materials, create levels, add lights, move entities about, change the visuals, and a lot more. So, that's a bit more than "nothing", wouldn't you say?

This happened the same also to me.
When I import a model Ithis appear without problem in the importer, but after save it I couldn´t find it in the entities folder.
But finally I realized that the model was saved to my Documents folder inside a gameguru folder. So you only need to take from there and copy in the entities folder in the installation path. That works for me.
Seems like if GGM save the model in user documents folder but later it donot go there to get the models and it still looking for the models copied in the installation path.

Hope this could help you.

Like i said, i can wait, i prefer to wait the next updates even if it's in october or november lol !
The difference between game-guru & game-guru max is so different, i tested gg-max 5.9 played a LOT of time with it during 24h with very heavy meshes & real PBR materials, and i saw the quality of this new engine, so...i can be really patient with it, becaise it's going to be a killer engine !

Now...they really need to do something about the A.I for npc and others things, like water, foam effects, etc !

click on the ebe, in the properties panel click the edit button, scroll down and click save

After installing max I get this warning from windows
Are these warnings caused by the Max installation? If so should I be concerned?

No one else has reported such issues.
What virus software are you using ?

Are you sure its Max .. The dates differ quite a lot.

I use windows security / Microsoft defender, have never seen these warnings until Max.
The different times and dates shown reflect times I have deleted or installed Max. Defender does not indicate they are critical but does allow me to quarantine or remove. I will remove and see if they return the next time I install a new version.

Ok just did some digging ..
EaseUS is a partition manager program.
Have you got that installed .. It does seem like its linked in some way.
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

Don't have that installed. I also did a little digging and I think I found the sucker.
Not a Max problem, but a piece of software on my system. I have no idea where it came from. It is called mobimover_free.exe
Somehow got involved with my moving some GG folders from "C" drive to "D" drive to make room for Max. Go figure.

This is version 6.0, but there is no significant difference in the part I want to point out, so I uploaded it as it is.

I wish there was a preset in the sky setting.
And I think we need a function to set the color temperature in relation to the sun and sky color selection.
Lastly, I think that the color of the sky near the horizon has too much red color. I tried to get rid of it by setting the color, but eventually it failed. The photo below is made by applying the advanced sky of the Corona renderer.

I used Google translator because my English was bad.

Hey so i was suggested to post this here instead of a separate thread.

i've been scrolling through the forums, trying to find a solution. GG max will flash a white screen then closes, in one of the threads lee had sent a setup.ini that would generate a .log which it did not at the time, i had this same problem previously and i had fixed it by updating to window 2004, I then tested alpha 5 and it worked, then when alpha 6 was released I uninstalled alpha 5 and installed 6 it would no longer launch, so I tried alpha 5 again and that would no longer launch, then I had tried alpha 6.1 still did not work any suggestions? Everything is up to date and as a last resort i did a fresh install of windows, but it still had no result.

I am running
-windows 10
-16gb ram
-Gtx 960
-Amd Athlon x4 860k quad core processor

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
i'm also trying to attach a video to show what's happening

Every time i start gameguru max, it crashes instantly! Any help? I also wanna mention that on the direct x setup it said an error: an internal system error occurred please refer to dxerror.log

Tried out the current 6.1 Alpha. Had some texture problems. Lots of flickering and even some alpha 'holes'. I had to re-save the ebe structure to get those textures back.

The character was too tall walking inside the ebe structure - felt like I was going to hit my head.

I had some problems choosing existing objects and placing them. Crashed at least once.

I'll start writing these bugs down so I can report them.

I keep getting stuck into items (a radiator or a cardbox, for example), then the player can only jump but not walk away.

@Cylo - Yes. It's a known issue that was resolved recently, but is not in any of the current releases. There are already several posts about this issue.

Hi everyone,

Shown in that video : a workaround to correctly save an imported mesh having more than one material in Game Guru Max Alpha 6.1.
Please note that the bug mentioned by the member Cylo is linked to this default setting 'material index = -1' found in the .fpe file.
Changing the value of that setting enables a correct collision.
