Hi All,

Classic update just went live. Here is the news link (https://www.game-guru.com/news-post/gameguru-classic-autumn-fixes-released) and a summary:

* Optimized memory use for per-entity activity, resulting in much less memory being used in your level
* Sound effects can now reach zero volume for when you want to script your sound to silence
* Fixed seamless textures in EBE structures so they are once again seamless
* Fixed issue with the draw call optimizer having problems with multi-textured entities
* Fixed crash caused in the "May Fixes" update related to the testgamemode
* Fixed ray casting of active entities and use of the intersect against static entities
* Fixed issue of 'save standalone' pausing progress
* Restored multiplayer to working condition
* Fixed a paste sprite issue causing the rendering on-screen to lag
* Title script now amended to determine correct folder for loading in title music

Happy to see the GitHub issues board once again reduced to zero bugs. Of course if you find more, please post them in your friendly neighborhood board: https://github.com/TheGameCreators/GameGuruRepo/issues
GameGuru Classic will continue to be supported with bug fixes and functionality additions.

Super! They keeping you busy Lee!
I will be looking forward to watching the results of this,
as I'm still on Dec 19,19 release, and if it sounds solid,
I'll be glad to get on the newest, shiniest release!

Well, my current project has dropped in speed significantly It was running fine at 60 fps before, now it's dropping into the 40's! I must admit updates never seem to go well for me. I'll reboot and try again but not looking good for my latest project. 3 maps for it, 2 now run badly and the other has just outright stopped working properly. The game was a solid few weeks work so I'm not impressed at the moment with this update I'm afraid.

I'll try it again and perhaps revert back to the last version (although it's rare that fixes stuff once run in newer versions in my experience).

Edit - Okay just reverted back to the May version and regained 10 fps or more back again. Not sure what the difference is but it's significant.

Well, that doesn't sound too spifffy, and it certainly wouldn't
help one of my sorta recent (but abandoned) projects that got
10 FPS on my computer and 14-15 on a RTX 2060 Super.

These speeds mostly because I had almost everything scripted to do
something (instead of the default zombified status GG is know for).
Can't do too much about slow lua scripts- I'm afraid.

Awesome, that means that continuing to report on github pays off? Great news!

I will be porting over all my files to the new version then and check it out.

Hey Lee,

Unfortunately I have to revert to the previous version because of a massive slowdown I have experienced in comparison to how it ran before. I have heard of others that have had this issue as well

@GubbyBlips. There's very little scripting used in the game so far, the speed drop is not related to lua scripting. If it is, then something is very wrong with a 10 fps drop. No, I'm pretty certain the changes to the draw call optimiser (multi-textured objects used to get optimised, with varying degrees of success, now they don't.) So it could well be that some trees could be using two textures and are now no longer being optimised. I must admit to wishing I had never posted the bug on github as it hasn't been "fixed" it has been disabled entirely from even attempting to work on objects with more than one texture.
