In one of the later Myst games is a feature in which you can switch movement control from the keyboard and mouse to the mouse only. The wheel is used to move forward and back and turning works as it does now (using the mouse). This eliminates the use of the up/down arrow keys, or WASDX keys.

I find it makes play easier, and allows the player to concentrate on the use of other key controls (Flash Light, Jump, crouch, run, etc).

This would be a great addition for GGMax

Not too bad of an idea. Good for NON weapon games -- but GG is all
about those weapons! Wheel spinning to keep moving might get a
little redundant, ya think? Strafing with the buttons?? Anyhow, this is
easily scripted in GG Lua, so start by checking out the Lua studies.

I saw this post and although this is not what you want exactly, it's similar More a god mode than a Myst movement type.

Back to Reloaded days, there has been a constant set of requests to expand GG beyond just an FPS game maker. Personally, I want to develop non-violent games of simulation and exploration. Given the coming of VR for GGMax it seems to me that an expanded feature set would draw more users (buyers) to GG.

I agree. Adventure type games are few and far between these days.

I got it going when I saw your post, got inspiration and then coded something in the same vein

I'm sure a Myst system is quite possible. Problem with the above script it is literally a god mode, you can fly through whatever you want. A bit more complicated to get collision to work when flying between locations.

Indeed, enough mindless FPS'rs in the real world. Reloaded\GG was meant to become just that - create any type of game. Sadly MAX has gone back to FPS tag.

The link is to a YouTube video that I did some time ago. I wrote this script which can move entities, or the player/camera, and can combine the entity and the player/camera so you can ride-a-long with the movement. The script is written in such a way that the game developer can pre-program the movements, which are activated step by step during game play.

I apologize in advance for this video which is 13 min long. I wrote the original script and video in 2017 and planned to edit and re-record the audio, but there were other things to do.

@GoDevils. Seems you have a handle on the controls anyway Not quite the same as what I did in my video, but I've done similar type scripts
If I get the time and inclination, I'm gonna revamp my god mode movement script into a simple move about the map replacement one. I have many projects going, when I'm not resting in-between If I can add a couple of different aspects, I may consider it worth adding to the store. As is, it's a bit basic for a store item. At least for me. If other people disagree I may reconsider.

I jostled around with a flying script about a year ago...
Had to overcome the engines set player gravity override--
how you handle that Dvader?
Gravity low is great for flying- not so much for jumping normally!
