Several years ago I backed away from GG (Classic) because of one big limitation, that of characters and Way Points to work with surfaces above and other than the Terrain.

Example: I have a three story building and a set of stairs leading to both upper floors. I want to be able to set-up a Way Points that will take the character up the stairs to the 3rd floor, then walk around on the 3rd floor surface, and return down the stairs.

In GG Max I like very much the new character properties. With multiple models I have attempted to set-up Way Points on an exposed upper floor (roof), and set the character to walk the Way Point. When activated the character starts to walk, but then simply walks in place as if trying to walk into a wall. I have attempted to lower the roof to just above the terrain, and it works.. some times.

Without a character system that allows the characters to walk up stairs, and move around on surfaces other than the terrain, I'm right back to where I started. Am I doing something wrong, or will this type of capability be in the final version of GG Max?

Are you using for zones? For AI to walk on entities you need to place a floor zone on the area you want them to walk, and if you want them to walk up stairs to get to a raise area you need to connect the ground at the bottom of the stairs and the floor zone with s waypoint.

I've got the walking and turning working. Finally had to write my own script in which I treat the characters as entities . Right now (without the way points) characters from character creator (GG Classic) will walk and turn on surfaces above the terrain. In the script I can program up to twenty different movements and turns, creating a Way Point like function but without AI.

My objective has always been to use these characters as automated and repeating background movement, to give the map some life. I have a similar script for vehicles, and another for entities flying, including entities that fly and take the Player/Camera along for the ride.

Sounds cool GDevils I always have better luck taking over completely myself, although it sort of ruins the reason I got GG (to avoid coding as many game basics as possible) I for certain do not like writing AI myself, although I have done so when I absolutely have to.

Always a good aim My old RPG demo shows it always adds a nice touch to any game
