Hey guys. One day, I might try some modeling. Basically never touched
any software before, except to peek inside the front screen.
Complex UI's don't work well for me. Any suggestions? Also to include
simple animations for simple GG objects- no characters! Thanks.

I personally think Blender is a good starting point, there are many good tutorials out there. And it is also free.
The secret is not to set the bar too high, go step by step and start with a simple box; many of the models start with a simple box.

Think of a wooden box, a pallet, a table, a chair, etc.

Thanks mate, your comment help a lot to GubbyBlips.

I personally use 3ds max 2015 and I have no idea how Blender works, the question is that I was counting on you to help GubbyBlips with blender, since I have no idea; Now I'm not so sure about this anymore.

You seem more interested in ridiculing me than helping, it is very sad.

I wasn't ridiculing you, the fate of the default cube is kind of an inside joke, sort of a blender specific meme.

I'm happy to help gubby any time, if he wants my help he'll get it

Such is my ignorance about Blender that I even ignored these tales.
Therefore I apologize for misunderstanding your intentions.

Question; is Fragmotion a start to finish product, or does it only take
an already existing mesh to work with... for animations? Is FM simple
enough that starting there would be recommendable, or should I
just take the plunge and wade through the jungle of many screens
and buttons in Blender?

Fragmotion is a full modelling software, however it is very limited compared to most 3D modelling programs, and (in my opinion) quite awkward and confusing to use.

In my opinion if you can afford the license then 3DS Max or Maya are currently the top options, but if you have a limited budget I would go for Blender, since the release of 2.8 it has really come on leaps and bounds, and had become a lot easier to use, it's even becoming a favourite of some of the big studios, for example ubisoft and epic are both supporting the development of blender with grants and they have started to move a chunk of their workflow to blender.

Blender has hundreds if not thousands of YouTube videos explaining how to use it, so you won't be short of information, and there are multiple artists here including myself that are more than happy to answer any questions you have

Not sure if this is of any use....

KHED on steam it's cheap, not got it myself but it look quite simple to use.

Not sure the objects will import into GG, it does export as .obj and .fbx formats though.

HI all
i bought khed a few months ago - is cheap but is very limited... to get started it may be fine, but then you have to move on to more complex software. Can export in obj. dae. fbx....but fbx (i don't know why dont work in gg).
You can try hexagon from daz studio (is free) http://www.daz3d.com/hexagon-2-5-download-version but don't export in fbx.
Or you can try AC3D http://www.inivis.com/
Or you can try http://www.projectmessiah.com/x6/index.html

I love sketchup but whit this software you can't animate
The software I use? ... Autocad, sketchup, Spazio3D, pconplanner, keyshot, palettecad, Kerkythea, paint.net, torque3d, AxixGameFactory, PD particles, leadwerks, s2game engine.......in the next future blender

Thanks for the suggestions. I think for now, I wouldn't put much money down
on a piece of software unless I was modeling about full time, but I'll keep them
in mind.
I guess Blender it is... probably won't be getting a Transformer Ferrari with
animations concocted out yet, but maybe I can eventually make that cube!!

Blender is a great choice and they only software I found to be intuitive for my taste.
For texturing I would maybe use another software like Substance Painter, because baking maps in Blender is too complicated in my opinion.
I hope they'll do something about it in the future. Seems like there will be a lot going on in the development of Blender.

Have a look at this Link
graphiX did an excellent job.. got me going to start 3D modeling, as I'm a DB programmer for ages, but never done 3D until a few years back.

Hope it helps
