Quote: "If you decide that adopting the Wicked engine is the best development choice, then
why aren't you also consciously hoping to take advantage of all the features?"

Because I stopped dreaming for GG. It will be released in September and the feature list is already to long in my eyes. I hope the wicked rendering pipeline is better implemented than the bullet engine and that is all I wish for.

If it is implemented in a good way, we maybe can use the features later with new updates, but for September it will not happen.

I remember a while back Lee talking about getting GLTF into GG.

That would open up so much possibilities for GG Max with the option of going to different 3d modeling website stores to download entities with animations.

I have zero issues with X - it would much prefer it to stay.
Have not had an X model that does not work properly in the GG - if it ain't broke, don't fix it

I have no problems with 'X' either- as long as someone provides them for me!
There's a political / economic conflict with opening the boarders for different
Model Types for GGMax. Will we make it easy (Blender is a huge, quickly
growing community), supported by enormous gaming entities. It's participation
could possibly have a direct feedback on Max sales, or will we remain loyal
ONLY to our traditional TGCS allies? Or invite all? Time will tell.

I agree with GubbyBlips. The more stores and sites the better, and it would bring in a ton of new entities to play with, and bring in new customers for GGMax

It's okay if it stays there, especially for the purpose of backwards compatibility. However, the file format has been deprecated since 2014. I see little reason to use a deprecated file format as the main means of getting models into GameGuru MAX. Especially when other formats, such as GLTF are so much more robust.

I just checked the 3D programs I use to create 3D content and none of them natively export .x, though I am guessing I could find an add-on to add it for Blender, at least. However, all of them export to GLTF 2.0, with the exception of ZBrush, which only exports to OBJ anyway.

I want X to stay in too, but it would be great if we had another option especially with the ease that GLTF has with animations.

I just hope if they do bring in GLTF that it is as easy as X to import stuff like we do from the TGC store.

There is the possibility of converting a model to .X format, so one can buy in any store, but of course the prices are no longer the same.

X file is deprecated and unsupported by microsoft, however one can add or modify, even create the file from scratch, if one wants to delve into the Direct3D 9 world.
Since this is not the case for the standard user, I bet on a friendlier file format.

The question is whether GGMax will be a new program or on the contrary it will be an improved GG.
In the second case, obviously GGMax will not be able to get rid of its dependencies, such as the .x format, the .dbo file, etc., since this would imply rewriting the engine from scratch.

Well, they are using the Wicked Engine for GameGuru MAX and the Wicked Engine supports GLTF 2.0 right out of the box.

As far as I know Wicked engine it must be treated as a library in itself, and must also be linked to GGMax. I don't know to what extent Lee will be able to integrate wiked engine into the current code; This is why I think he will have to rewrite a lot of code, which may happen, but not for September.

Because its the Alpha. Right now what you see is pretty much just a placeholder .

If you listen to the broadcast, Lee said they would break down the wicked engine and use the parts they need for GGmax (if I remember right )

Unfortunately my english is not that good to understand whats Lee is talking about, so broadcast is not for me.
YT translator (if any) is not so good.
I cant make a quiestion if I don't understand the answer.

But this is only my fault, so not claim here.

@3com : It also does not help I have a Wigan accent Hopefully, the visuals show off something of the progress, and I am sure some English speakers will also not understand a blind word I am saying.
GameGuru Classic will continue to be supported with bug fixes and functionality additions.

It does!
On the other hand, I can always complement my information with the contribution of some users who understand my disinformation, and help me constructively.
