I'm working on a pack of decals to allow Game Guru users to fake volumetric lighting effects like light rays, glows, and halos around windows, doors, and light fixtures. These lightweight assets use a slightly modified shader and simple geometry to simulate effects many of us are used to seeing in AAA games but that Game Guru cannot (currently) reproduce.
The pack features a wide variety of beams of light through windows and doors at different brightness levels and angles to allow maximum flexibility for developers.
I've created light rays that accurately simulate light fall-off in the real world, which can be used to add depth and atmosphere to a scene.
In addition to direct lighting,
Volumetrix also contains simulated reflected/diffuse light from indirect sources.
As well as faking volumetric light from natural sources, the pack also has contains glows and halos for artificial sources too, modelled from real-world IES (Illumination Engineering Society) lighting fall-off data.
Volumetrix is currently in development but will shortly be available to purchase on the TGC store.
