I've tried it in a very empty map, in other words just the player and my cascade entity with your FX file, plus "forceloadtestgameshaders=1"

Very interesting and disturbing that it does not run on your machine.
Maybe I should do a file verification and see if it breaks this for me.

I am still on the beta version, which is supposed to be the PP also. So not sure what is going on with your machine.

Could you try to edit your setup.ini and add this line:

usingmysystemfolder = 0

Nice work. Did anyone address the collision detection anomaly that I experienced
with weapons sometimes not hitting an object? Or can anyone verify that they also
have found this? I posted some details to the main forums earlier since I don't have
a GitHub account, so just wondering?

To sum it up, weapon hits occur sporadically in the new PP, even had the rocket
launcher fly through an object, and the shotgun have no effect point blank!
That is, same object, different location it works, move it again, it doesn't.
Same map, revert to December, and no issues!

inside a building errors still not working at all.
NPC's see you and then heads for the nearest wall and face it an walk in place.....
not much fun for game play...............is this NOT a long term bug still ?

I am getting the same error as @Duchenkuke , ( Runtime error about Guru-MapEditor.exe), when I load any of my Maps . I have to shut it down using the task manager it freezes after the runtime error.
tried adding the line usingmysystemfolder = 0 to the system.ini and still get an error when loading maps.

now gg crashed even inside the editor when I wanted to place a soundzone..
I have done a fresh install and copied my scripts and entities over. Still it has major issues - I literally can't use the software
I will try this "usingmysystemfolder = 0" addition to the setup.ini now. I hope it works

@MooKai this is why I never use old maps with a update. I rather just start fresh or I just wait to see if the new update is worth it. I personally hope Lee doesn't try to force GGmax to work with the old maps. if you think this is a nightmare now try getting the old maps to work in what is suppose to be a new engine. FPS Creator had same problem so I learn to put my project on hold if I feel I could benefit from a new update.

I have no choice...
In the version before there was a bug with the fade out effect, when u change from level 1 to 2.
(If u use allowfragmentation=2 ,,, for the memory bug/limit... )
Now, this bug is fixed (tested it with a small new test map/game) but now I can not even start the test mode of my "real" maps... GG always crashes during loading.
I'm close to the end of a 2 years project, but the bugs always slow down everything.

No. Everything i tried, it didnt help.

I deleted my gameguru installation and restored my old folder.
I cant use the new update.

I even verified the files via steam.

well, no. Ive been working for a long time on my game and It can be wishlisted on steam so I will not be forced to "restart" my project.
The Amount of custom stuff I got going on is insane. I wouldnt be able to restore it 100%.

I was really looking forward to the new update. This is disheartening once again..

I'm not using gG anymore(wait for max and hope i could get some funny with it) but we took a month to squash all the bugs you took ages to fix....this demnstrate of with a little effort and a bit less laziness GG should have it fixed ages ago and if it was worked with effort it could be a great engine over the time... sad...really sad..

@Duchenkuke and MooKai yes I clearly understand guys. Not saying you should restart your project. I been in this situation before many times and learn to test out the engine before deep diving in a project. My only advice to you guys is good luck and I hope the bugs get fix in the end. FPS Creator and game guru have a bad habit of being able to work with old map for a long time and with custom assets. Well I'll keep reading to see what change and if it's all fix.

Is this the REPOSITORY for new bugs? (for those of us without GitHub?)

Well, yesterday GG (the new PP) worked fairly well, with only one issue
that I saw at first. (The weapons @ hit/ collision glitch)

Today I get this (don't have any info as to why?) I just opened GG to test
object to object/ ground issues, to verify with others about that; But it
opened all white, and remained all white after placing objects;

Sigh. It doesn't seem to matter what TGC does ... fix bugs ... don't fix bugs ... they still catch hell for it ...

Bug fixing isn't easy .. Specific Bugs fixed and tested on Lee and Preben's systems but then there are thousands of other machines to consider along with any side effects of other features … I don't envy your job guys
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

Yeah, I'm not trying to be a thorn in the scab-- or however it goes,
but it seems like the usual route for major updates is some time
perhaps 7-10 days of community Pre- Pre Public release testing,
or that sort of thing.
I know December had that, and it's a great version in my opinion.
Maybe I didn't catch that step this go-around?

Part of the problem is that developers like me have kick-arse systems with the latest Windows fixes and drivers etc.

Latest GG build is working fine for me, I can't replicate any of the reported issues!
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

Hi all
sorry to hear all the issues here.

For me everything runs fine, although I also have noticed a reduction of around 30-50 fps with vsync off, but still getting constant 60 fps with vsync on.

Shaders look great.
Shadows make terrain look so much better.
Even standalone builds and runs seemingly fine - haven't tried save\load game tho.

The only issue I found so far is weapons which I tested because of bugs reported here.
I opened a blank level and plonked a whole bunch of explode able barrels around, and you can plow a gazillion bullets into them and it is like firing blanks for the most part. Some did eventually explode after trying from another angle, but definitely an issue there.

Preben and Lee have done an awesome job - great work guys
Hopefully they can get on top of the issues mentioned in this thread soon. Pretty sure they be utilizing match sticks to keep eyes open atm tho.....

Yeah just to say what I do with any new update:

Load GG so it updates.
Verify files
Go thru and adjust you custom changes to settings fx and setup ini (hate this part lol)
Load GG again to update shaders accordingly (forceloadtestgameshaders=1)
Check for latest updates - especially graphics driver
Reboot system
Load GG and see if it all works.

Hi all

So just tested a blank level with an attack droid.
In test game when you get near the droid and the pesky thing shoots you - the game locks up and GG does that resume previous level thing. Which of course just invokes the Task Manager kill response

So yeah, it seams there be an issue with weapons, and droids attacking player.

Edit: so the droids shooting player crash appears to have been random. I saved the level and reloaded and it works fine. But the droids still drop to ground when shot.

Can I ask that any bugs not already on GitHub (and refreshed with comments since the live release), please please post your GitHub bug reports with enough details that we can reproduce with a stock installation? Anything posted here is valuable, but it's not organized in the same way as the GitHub issues board which allows us to tackle items on a case by case basis, or allow us to ask questions specific to the issue as they occur, and ultimately enabling us to fix the issue. Posting them in the form of critique is fine, but less effective than the GitHub method which is a shorter route to getting your issue fixed.
GameGuru Classic will continue to be supported with bug fixes and functionality additions.

Guys, get some sleep, come back fresh. I know if I only get 3 or 4 hours of sleep,
then I'm pretty useless for the rest of the day. Even on a better night, my mind
takes 2 or 3 waking hours before it's able to dig into scripting new lua functionality.
That's me, maybe ya'all others are better-- I'm sure!

with regard to reporting it on Git, I think people just find GitHub uninviting to be honest. It is clearly sporting a non-user-friendly developers UI. Coupled with the need to be able to provide a reliable example to show the issue. So people probably hesitate to post there.

When I have an issue I usually only go to Git if I consider it to be a show stopper. And I can honestly say I would rather you guys move on to MAX

Anyhow as it is not likely to be counted a bug, I thought I would report back on the widget.
I was playing with a level to test the widget, and while it seams smoother to use, it still has that dreaded issue of objects darting off some random location on the map, it would be nice if it would just stay attached to the mouse pointer somehow.

Microsoft is a company with many years of experience, with a huge infrastructure, and a lot, a lot of money, however I think it is not necessary to talk about bugs in the Windows operating system.

@Lee ,
My suggestion is why don't we make an thread for GitHub , and everyone that is not familiar with it can post there, then, maybe if there is a kind hearted user that knows GitHub, then he can log these problems for them.

Also another thing , every since the new update. once in the editor, if i click on add new entity then
GG pause or think or load for a couple of seconds before it opens the entity bank.

It never use to do that, its frustrating.
And sometime wile its thinking what to do you get this screen.
or it just freeze on this screen.

ok so i have also realized that when its taking time to open , once its open , i can see that my User tree and all the sub folders in the user tree are expanded , even if i close them all and go out, once you select add new entity it takes time to open and then the user folder with all the sub folders are expanded, maybe this is why GG takes so long to open or sometimes freezed.

I just tested, and i can also confirm, to open the entity bank when you select add new entity,... its lighting fast.
