Hi all,

almost in total lock-down here and as there seems to be some interest in water shaders, dusted off this one I worked on for quite a few hours several years ago (video is from a while back, though shader is similar to the one used back then).

You need to use the .x file supplied as there needs to be plenty of vertices on the flat plane so the shader can deform the waves. Place the Ocean2.fx file in effectbank\reloaded folder.

There are a myriad of shader settings to play with, remember each time you need to delete Ocean2.blob before restarting GG for the shader to recompile and pick up the new settings. You can try different normal textures too, and you will get different effects.

So if you want huge rolling waves across a vast viewing distance, this is for you. You'll need to get your terrain up high and position the ocean water at the right height - you'll see what I mean as at large wave amplitude settings the waves get, err large

Hope you enjoy - would be great to see some screen shots if you like it.

Cheers.

Wow, thanks Cyber, this is beautiful.

But shouldn't this be exclusively for Cogwheel Chronicles?
I'm going to play with it and learn from it but it doesn't feel right to be using it.

Holy Moly, it is simply mesmerising to watch those waves role by, what a transformation and i'm also amazed that it does not seem to be that heavy performance wise.

Absolutely stunning work Cybernescence.
