Hello,
I Am new with GameGuru and find it VERY interesting and friendly tool to design and create games and ideas, just started to learn it. I Understand how to build underwater environment - my question how make my player staying underwater without dying? Do I need special kind of LUA script?

Well, basically- yes. The stock underwater movement is VERY limited first of all,
and so to go underwater and move around easily, will require some tweaks.
But to allow the player to 'breath' underwater, you could for a very simple
method just put regeneration rate above 0 in player properties. All these
other properties entries need to be available in lua scripting.

Thanks for the help GubbyBlips! I Don't know nothing about the LUA scripting, but do have a lot of experience with other languages like Dark Basic and QuickBasic... Where do I start - is that something I need to change in the global.lua maybe...?

On a semi related note, user erart has made some under water related stuff a few years back

That's great to have experience in Basic languages for learning some programming
logic! Very good. I started in QBasic/ a DOS teething Basic -- is it related??
Anyhow do you have Notepad ++ ? That's a great way to start messing around
with GG lua scripts.

You wouldn't change global.lua. The very simplest thing to do (and I'm sorry that
there's no easier/ simpler options) like an open/ outside the engine-
under-water speed vs above-water speed,
But.... to assist you a little, increase player speed (in properties) to maybe double,
and like I mentioned, give the player regeneration rate of 2-3 points. That way you
can stay underwater indefinitely, and at least move around to a slightly less very
sluggish manner. If I jumped back into my swimming script (that I left a year ago),
it would disrupt the game I am currently working one, but you never know!!

BTW, what would you like for the player to accomplish underwater? Because
GamePlayerControl Also disables weapons underwater.

@Wolf
As far as I know, Erart's work is a scam!! No, not trying to be mean.
I mean it's a illusion, and a good illusion, which would really not be a bad way
to go on occasion perhaps. In other words, using Skyboxes, fogs, sounds and
other environmental effects, Erart makes it look like the player is underwater,
but in reality they remain above water (on regular dry ground!) the whole time.
GENIUS! in reality!

ALL of game making is an illusion, i mean, c'mon, you don't believe that the models on your screen really had 3 dimensions right? They're 2D renders made to look 3D, everything in every game is an illusion.

Thanks GubbyBlips, I think I am begining to understand how it works, it's extremely complicated but the basics is that global.lua has all the functions, variables and all, gameplayercontrol.lua is a module handling everything related to conrol the player.... I Hope I am in the right direction?

For start allowing the player to shoot underwater can be good idea.

Could be hard to make it believable, the bullets are slower underwater and they create a specific effect around them. Not even sure if they fly far enough to hit the target.Harpoons are the only weapons used underwater.

It's no illusion!
Embedded Youtube videos won't play here anymore, in the forums... hmmm??
Anyone else having this issue? Or am I just deluded?!

Must be my Firefox, and maybe some add- on's for it...?
It seems to have occurred within the last couple weeks.

As one of the people involved in making the current Game Guru's underwater system, I think its fair to say that creating an entire world dependant under that system would not[b] be ideal. It's quite incomplete and has its bugs. Hoping Lee and Preben consider revisiting that section of the player global countrols script.

I would highly recommend the illusion methods as everyone is mentioning. Create or use a Skybox that looks like you are underwater. Change up the gravity/weight options of the player and entities. You could get some really cool effects if you make some bubble particles as well.

Get some good underwater sound effects and think creatively about making the game appear as if its underwater. You may want to avoid all the weapons that we commonly use in GG.

I have also tried [href=http://s3.amazonaws.com/subwaysurfers/index.html]Subway Surfers[/href] game with it and it honestly works though.
