Now, I get that this is an ill-defined term, roughly translating to “the game the designer wants to make as opposed to what a potential player would want to play”, however I think quite a few games mix both a player-centric and designer centric-approach. The few heavily designer-focused games I’ve heard of have all been personal projects meant for catharsis for the person making it or to convey a message/story dear to the maker.
