Is there a way to disable the muzzle flash lighting when firing a gun? The flashing light.
Either directly turning it off or doing some work around or something to just break it so it doesn't work?

You need to set the weapon in the map that the player is using. It can be hidden or in plain sight. In the properties of the set weapons pickup,
Set the spot lighting to no and then apply changes. Press start and test.

Thanks I think you are correct that that should do it.

However it stays on even when set to no, even after I save and restart gameguru Must be a glitch with the latest build or something.

Edit file "gunspec.txt" and change "muzzleflash = 4" to "muzzleflash = 0"
I've tried "Game Guru\Files\gamecore\guns\modern\colt1911" and it works.

hmm Thanks 3com. That does reduce the strobing effect which I want to (my friend has epilepsy) ... So I think I will go with that fix.

However it still doesn't technically get rid of the light from the gun flash, overall though its much better

Are you talking about gun smoke?
Can you load some video reproducing the issue?

It seems a lot less with the muzzle disabled, but I am speaking about the light from the gun flash on other objects, the red arrow pointing where it is. The "muzzleflash = 0" modification helps a lot though

What type of weapon are you using?
I don't get that glow when I shoot the colt or the uzi.
Honestly I had never tried to eliminate the muzzleflash, so I'm just giving blind sticks.
However, if there is no logical way to suppress this light effect, this effect is most likely achieved using a decal, in which case you only have to create a decal that is equal in size, but transparent, and then replace the original decal with this one, but not before making a backup of the folder.

Its an mp40 bought from the store, I get the light effect when I use the uzi too.

However I just discovered if I turn all the shadows down it goes away? The game doesnt look as realistic but thats OK.

Really weird.
It seems that this effect has something to do with the shader.
If you have any knowledge about how shaders work, take a look at the "apbr_core.fx" file, especially the spotlight and muzzle flash section.
The weird thing here is why you experience the effect of light and I don't.

Maybe someone else wants to do a test and post the result.

The MP40 is an old pre-pbr weapon so it may be because the wrong shader is being used.

Go into the gunspec.txt file which is in files/gamecore/guns/BSP_WW2/MP40, and change:

effect = effectbank\reloaded\weapon_basic.fx

to

effect = effectbank\reloaded\weapon_bone.fx

and see if that helps
