Hi there. Sorry if this has been asked here before, maybe so.
But it's hard to find past threads with the search, or at least
current info would be welcome.

If you put a bunch of things on your map, many separate items,
but you later want to get rid of a lot of it, and clean things up, but
not start all over (no copy and paste if I recall), the -Q- uestion is;

Will your map that you save still retain those old items in memory
for some reason? Will it still be bulky and saturated by the "ghost"
of the old stuff? The left entity choice panel retains all the entities
that you have previously set down, so just not so sure about this?

Yeah. The editor retains them all in the left panel until you save the level, then exit and restart the GG. Which makes sense, as you may have deleted them but still want to add another somewhere.

If the object is still in the left panel after that, it is because one or more of them are still present in the map, somewhere - although you may simply not be able to find it again. Could be under the terrain or way off the edge of the map.

With regard to searching info using the forum search - it is pretty close to useless - unless you use exact phrases or single words, otherwise it will most likely return zero results. You will get better results using google to search for threads.

As OldFlak states … delete what you need then save ( preferably under a new name )
Once you reload the items will not appear on the left panel or on the map.

Of course if you don't want the models in the level, and think there are some hiding somewhere, you could:
1) delete them from entitybank (put them in a temp folder or something)
2) load the map - you will get a message saying some stuff is missing (just ignore it)
3) save the level and close the GG
4) This will ensure they are indeed GONE from the level
5) put the models back into entitybank again so you can still add them to your game if you wish.

Then post a request on GitHub for a better more structured way of dealing with entities in the GG editor - but pretty sure it has been asked for before.

Hey, thanks guys. Good info.
So, after a delete many objects from the map (I've saved it with a whole bunch of
stuff on it), will a new save after deleting quite a lot of the objects retain most of
them still in {.memory.} and {.file size.} even after a new save?

Example, I make a map, or even I'm just putting things down to look them over,
to check out if I like them or they would benefit my project so perhaps I put 100
things down, then I delete 75 things and keep the other 25 (since there's no
copy and paste feature, even on the same map or between new projects) --
to avoid having to place the ones *I LIKE* over again on a new map, can I delete
objects, and will the map get smaller in SIZE and MEMORY when saved again or
compiled to save-alone? Anyone tested this? Thanks again.

yes, less object = less size...
just remember to light map the level again (if you are using it) otherwise you will still have old shadows / light info present

Ahh I forgot lightmapping … As smallg states
I have my tab menu settings set perfectly for me so often I grab and delete the whole thing to start a new level and never had the problem like this .. But I don't lightmap ... Light mapping will still leave the objects there unless you redo it once you have removed everything you want.
