Product Chat / character creator body really bright

If I make a character with gamegurus character creator, and place that character on the map. It's body besides the head is bright.

I have been having this bug for a bit ( a year? ), have made post about it before. But thought I could just re-install and everything would be fine. Does not work with fresh install.

EDIT: Its possible that it's not gameguru. but could it be something else like a driver?

This has been a long going thing in GG, I have played a lot of games and nothing like this happens.

Going to do another fresh install?

Oh... Yeah. This reminds me. Last time I tried the CC, a couple weeks ago,
just to see how things where-- well it was ultimately buggy and locking up.

The menu didn't fit on the screen, and I couldn't get back to the main editor.
So I had to break out of it from Windows Exit. And the bright stuff... yes, it's
a very common thing with old models and pbr. There's a trick for that,
but now I can't even try CC at the moment...
I was going to report this earlier, but maybe I forgot to or something?
Do you remember?

Hey all
Try setting pbroveride to 0 in setup
And/or make sure the correct shader is referenced in the fpe.

I tried pbroveride=0 and that did not work.

in the fpe im not sure what line to look for, for shader

Attempting to reduce the surface sun factor to 30 or less can sometimes help decrease brightness.

Keeping the pbroveride = 0 and into the game level, click on the tab key and in the visual settings table, reduce the surface sun factor to values between 20 and 30.

In the model properties panel, decrease the specular property value to 1 or 0 and apply changes.

Northern, I did try what you suggested but it did not fix it. Does anyone have this problem? Seems odd because I did a fresh install.

Here is a pic of the problem.

If I make the skin dark it does help. If I set entries to low in graphics it helps kinda. They will be light-dark gray depending on the skin colors and/or clothes

@Nevin:

I'm sorry it didn't work!

It looks like something wrong with the shader character_basic.fx.

Try leaving only the diffuse map of the character to see if the problem still persists. Do not forget to delete the .dbo file after removing normal, specular or any other maps than diffuse.

I will give it a shot and see what I get .
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

Trying to duplicate Nevins this is what I ended up with.
Are your GFX drivers and Windows right up to date.
That pic is default ……... But I can get it better by turning down the surface sun factor a touch.

The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

@synchromesh I will check drivers to, your char looks good to me.

EDIT: Drivers were up to date, I made sure specular was set to 0. Here is a new pic
that shows all the settings. I tried I fresh install once more. That did not help. I am going to make standalone and run it on my other comp

EDIT: It works on my other comp. Now I have to find out whats going on.

Don't ask me why? that's up @ the inside scoop to let us know?

Goto Shader Options // Entity Shader // "lowest" and to me it seems to be good now,
but then the rest of your map will be minus these crucial details.

Maybe we can get them to really quick fix that line in CC so the new
update is ready!
