Hi,
When will the 3rd perspective player be achieved by the Gamecreators for GameGuru?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTbtWTEzHfg - This video on you tube showed us all what is possoble in FPSC Reloaded but since 2012 (7 years ago!!) has never been updated or changed for GAMEGURU. If this is possible, which I am sure it is, what needs to happen to bring this to reality?

Can we not setup a FORUM TOPIC for this and see what the appetite is for 3rd perspective GAMEGURU games?

Many thanks

We have third person and have had it for years, it's not very good, but we have third person. In fact originally only one character could be used in third person, but it was updated a short while ago so any character can be used. Just drag a character on top of the start marker and bobs your gender neutral choice of family members. You aslo have additional settings in the start markers property after adding a character to adjust the camera angles etc.

Hi Belidos,
Yes I know and agree with all that you have said, but the video shows much more than we have at the moment which was posted by Rick Vanner in 2012.... surely we could do with an update?

At best 3rd perspective is glitchy and buggy, I for one would love to see animations like climbing walls or ropes, chains in 3rd perspective. Leaping over gaps in scenery etc.

I assume you haven't used it recently, third person isn't glitchy or buggy (at least i can't find anything wrong with it that isn't just a lack of a feature), the last actual bug that i recall being reported was fixed in the last update (clipping issue), it now does pretty much what it was designed to do. Some people are doing some pretty good 3rd person isometric games with it lately

What you are looking for is more additional features, which i agree would be great to have, and to be honest the forums isn't really the best place to ask for them, most of the development has shifted over to GitHUb now, if you are looking for additional features to be added i'd suggest opening an issue on there and putting it in that.

Although to be honest the chances of getting anything in the next two years is slim to nil.

Thanks Belidos for your feedback, I disagree though that these forums should be used so all users of GAMEGURU can see in one place any updates, new features needed etc. If then they get moved over to a platform to manage that upgrade or feature then that is down to the Game Creators who know their workloads etc. It is not down to end users of the software to move the software forward which others are selling, in my opinion.

the video is protyping character animations , its not actual game mechanics. Its also a prototype video for FPSC Reload's Kickstarter Campaign of which is slightly different than Game Guru/Early FPSC Reloaded. Hence why we dont have that exact character.

We've had many forum topics on that specific video. Always turns into rants really in the end. I think going forward GG is looking towards 3rd party character creation that can be used for the 3rd person. I have no doubts that this is when the 3rd person controller will also get updated.

If you experiment with some lua you can actually get some interesting results playing around with whats already there.

Thanks Teabone, I did not post this thread to cause issues or people to rant, I just thought it was about time that more emphasis was on 3rd perspective as a game mechanic and to corale all posts to one subject rather than have loads all over the forum.
That way progression in this feild may happen as the GameCreators may see it and may act on it.

It was usually me that started ranting

In the peak into the V3 of GG there seems to be a stronger focus on characters. Will be interesting to see what Lee's got cooking in the secret oven.

It should be noted that that was not FPSC Reloaded but it was a demo of character animations within the 3D software it was created in. It was a pitch for FPSC Reloaded but never actually got added to FPSC Reloaded.

Just as a quick note. There was a fix for another third person issue pushed on github 4 days ago. So yeah it is getting some attention. I know you want to get focus on it via the forums, i understand, and i do agree we need to talk about it, but by not going onto github to request fixes and changes you are kind of shooting yourself in the foot, it's the best place to get anything done and get issues logged, no amount of forum posts will help if the people you need to look at your issues are looking elsewhere.

Hello folks! I was wondering why the camera x offset does nothing in the 3rd person properties. I would like to be able to view my player's left side while walking forward, which is more like an isometric view. I can only get an over the shoulder view while walking. Is this possible?

For the record, I have tried negative integers as well as positive integers and the camera x offset seems to do nothing except sort of shift the view in the level editor. When I go to test mode, there I am, back behind my character.

Also, does anyone know a way you can use the cross hairs as a way point indicator for your character to follow with right mouse click, and also as cross hairs for your player to shoot with left? I'm only beginning with Lua coding and only really learning for GG.

Thanks for any input!

I doubt fire is even enabled ..
LMB is probably the direction to move so fire would have been disabled totally.
At least im assuming that ?

Looks like a cool RPG mechanic there AmenMoses, or adventure

@ jjumisko
Not sure about locking the player to one side, but you can lock the camera.

Ahh I was looking for this vid earlier in another Third person Thread ..
I found the camera lock awkward but set your view and use Mouse Lock works great

I can't remember if I solved the camera lock in the end. I know I mailed Lee asking for a way to do it That and the camera movement when objects got in the way of the player. I got several more levels done, but never finished it. Might have to dig it out and see how it runs now.
