If GG incorporates an algorithm like the one used by
decimator in
mixamo, for example; the engine could reduce the polycount of an object depending on the distance of the player, with respect to the object.
If the object has a large number of polygons and does not incorporate the LOD, in addition the player's distance is within the range that activates the function of the polygon reducer, which would work in percentage values.
Although I don't know if this is possible.
