I've been trying to coax an enemy to follow me upstairs. I have waypoints. He gets partway up then just stands there. Maybe he is worried that my intentions are amorous.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, my health HUD flickers.

I still think the AI for going up any kind of stairs is not working. I think going up smooth slops is sort of working, but I dont use enemies or NPC's much at all.

Strange ..
In a test I did back in September with the .ebe I had them running and jumping up steps without any waypoints or floorzones at all ?
In fact they were getting pretty devious

Darn. I was using waypoints, not floor zones. Sorry... it's been a while; I only just returned to GG. Thanks.

However after testing its not working for me either..
To be honest its a bit of a shoddy awkward way of doing things ..
We need better than this.

it's certainly not perfect, the AI tend to get confused very easily on multiple layers or if you move between layers very quickly but it works for me using the method in the demo video
(though i did notice he can walk through the side or back of the stairs and gets stuck if so - easy enough to fix with some walls but something to consider)

note that it definitely works best with the EBE, most ramps/stairs simply aren't AI compatible if they are even remotely complex in collision shape - see how the AI won't follow onto the inbuilt stairs of the building but will navigate the EBE stairs

attached my fpm so you can see my layout

Actually all seems pretty good outside but not so good inside ..
I wonder if having the roof on top effects it ?
Also wonder if Lee only checked this with the .ebe

In indoor scenes the AI becomes silly, it does not take into account the collision of static objects.
Although it is also true that many models are not prepared for the navigation of an AI.
It will always be easier to get AI to navigate these models, than to have to modify them all (stairs, ramps, etc.) imho.

Sychromesh, judging by the sound of footsteps on your stairs I am guessing you used your raised terrain trick to do that. I can't even get that to work.

Nope it was just a standard ebe model using blocks … I may still have it.. I will look as it will be interesting to try again.

Trying to get this chap to use the stairs is very frustrating but it's kind of fun choosing the songs. If I put two characters in there it might be 'Stuck On You.' Three might call for 'Stuck In The Middle With You'. Anyway, on with the mission.

Found it and the AI has changed so much … they now go into a stance as soon as you leave the floor
I took the AI out of my Septembers backup as a test and there much more lively and also use floor zones so much better than now.
