Firstly ..
What are your system specs ?
What version of GG are you using .. ( Tells you on the splash screen )
We need this info first to work out what could be going wrong.

you have a large map with lots of objects? turn physics off for anything that doesn't need it, such as detail items or in areas the player and AI can't get to.

Also, the first time you run your level the obstacles are analysed and AI avoid data created and saved. If you don't then change the map the obstacle data is loaded in rather that calculated and this saves time - so reruns of an unchanged map will load faster.

Cheers.

... your card is WAAAYY under specs... ?

Okay, how about *my* card then... 0 bytes of graphics ram,
mini tower- AMD sumthin, sumthin processor...

I thought a little work was done to help in this regard?
what is there? 67 soldiers and 113 zombies placed on the map?
How many dynamic items are there?

Of course I essentially haven't messed with a large map since 2018 because
of slowness and other map issues.

because if there is no AI to plot a path for then it won't... it's still true that if you have a large amount of entities it takes longer to calculate the areas the AI can walk, this is not a bug, it's A* pathing and the only way to reduce the time it takes is to remove unnecessary obstacles as i said before

also this particular issue would have nothing to do with your graphics card... it has no bearing on AI calculations, that would be purely CPU so any upgrade would be a waste of time if the game runs fine once it has loaded.

Is not so much just the a.i. calculations. .....
each character when added to the scene will need to occupy
GPU RAM space in order to be displayed. ...depending on the
polygon count , that can add up pretty fast and fill a
1 gig card pretty quick.....is why new minimum video card spec = 2 gig..

Quote: "System Requirements
Minimum
Windows 7, 8, 10 or later
Intel Dual-Core 2GHz or AMD Dual-Core 2GHz
2 GB RAM
2GB Video Card (Minimum Shader Model 5.0)
DirectX 11
4 GB available space
Recommended
Windows 7, 8, 10 or later - (64bit)
Intel Quad-Core (i5 2300) or AMD Octo-Core (FX 8150)
4 GB RAM
2GB Video Card (Minimum Shader Model 5.0)
DirectX 11
8 GB available space
Broadband Internet connection
