So, as I may have mentioned, I went down to my caravan in sunny Weymouth (only three thunder storms in 2 weeks!) with the intention of attacking vehicles in GG from anew.

Basic plan was to figure out how to have vehicles that behave realistically when driving over terrain, obstacles and also to handle jumps.

Secondary objective was to have vehicles skid/slide and possibly roll/crash when pushed too far.

Problem is that although on paper I worked out all the algorithms I would need and figured out the basic math, when it came to actual scripting I found that I had 'lost my mojo'.

I just couldn't work up the enthusiasm.

Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

Oh that's not good
Happens to us all though you can just burn yourself out and need time to reinvigorate the enthuasiasm
But I hope the holiday side of things were good despite the storms.

Holiday wise it was fine, feel much relaxed and rejuvenated, just lost any enthusiasm for GG scripting for some reason.

I think we need some lib to attach some object to another object and/or entity, so I just should type something like: attachTo(e,the other object, and more params here as needed).
Of course that attached mesh (child) follow the other mesh (parent) wherever he go, even jumping if an entity.

I need to attach some dynamic light to a bulb that moves like a pendulum, as aplication example, even the bullet shots on a mobile target.

It's happened to me a few times, I switched to learning about shaders and coded that aspect instead for a change.

Perhaps you just need a break or perhaps you've no real challenges left in lua for GG ?

Cheers.

Erks! Well, that's nothing- J/K! Yeah, just take on all of the laws of Newtonian
physics in one script-- no biggy! All I have is the jumping part, (sortof) and none
of that other fancy stuff. Also I "red- neck" my scripts together, not in the eloquent
style that AM does his.

So, 3com... " even the bullet shots on a mobile target." You want to make like
tracers or something? Sounds cool. I wonder what is the speed of bullets in general?
But come to think of it, lights themselves don't glow visually, they cast light to a
surrounding surface. So maybe follow the bullet with a glowing cylinder and dynamic
light. BTW I wanted to do this also, (not bullets-- just random stuff) but never got
around to actually following through with it, and mostly because of the missing "glow"
factor. Time.... can we buy some?!

BTW can't you just do lightx[e] = bx[e]?

yh we all get it, normally happens to me when i know i can already do something before i start and i just can't find the energy to do it for little to no reward for the time it would take... unless i'm learning something during the process it normally doesn't get done unless it's super quick task... for you i imagine this is quite a rare ask as you have already done so much (pretty much everything) as far as coding is concerned so unless it's a fun task you likely won't have any interest in doing it.
taking a look into shaders is a good call, i had fun learning dissolve and splat (i.e. snow) shaders (though not in GG), there's plenty of tutorials online to get the idea and it's really not that different to scripting once you get used to the language of choice (it is still essentially coding after all), could be a nice "break" while keeping in the same sort of area that you already enjoy

TLR perhaps making some shaders for snow / mud tracks on the terrain will naturally make you more interested in coding some vehicle logic again

Oh no AmenMoses! We need your brilliant scripts. And people like me who are still trying to learn scripting need your great explanations of scripts. Those vehicle scripts sound great. I hope your mojo comes back x 10 !

The AM's muse has taken a vacation.
They always come back when you least expect it.

In my particular case, it is a bit different given the fact that if it happens to me when I am working in a pack for the store, I force myself to continue and quickly reunite to the muse that was on vacation. LOL
The case of AM is different and does not imply any obligation.
Anyway we are giving targets to him, who lknows?

Ah, it happens. I regularly take weeks off my hobbies and come back to them with fresh enthusiasm
I bet that once winter comes you'll be way more motivated to work on the computer again.

I get these terrible bouts of depression during which I can't do any work. One of my projects totally died because of this.

Sex is required, and plenty of it!
