Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered already. What I am trying to do is have one or more of the explosion decals trigger in the distance (to simulate incoming artillery fire for example) but I can't seem to do it. Either the decal flashes so fast you don't really see it or it becomes visible and just runs its continuous loop.
The scripts from this post https://forum.game-guru.com/thread/216392#msg2559538 are as close as I can get to what I want but I was wondering if there is a way to improve on it.
If I remember correctly in FPSC I was able to come up with a script that triggered the explosion decal with just a key press. The animation appropriately played once, then stopped yet it responded each time the key was pressed. I added the explosion sound and it looked /worked great!. Is this possible in Game Guru? Any help would be much appreciated!

You could use particles for this.
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

Okay. Is this where I should start reading? https://forum.game-guru.com/thread/220140. I admit it seems a little overwhelming but it looks fantastic and I would love to use this to achieve my goal.

That's a good start, you could also look at GraPhiX's particle related threads, which deal with explosions no less.

If you're using the stock explosion you could set the health to 0 for any item right after you spawn them, then they'll automatically explode right away.

Smallg, I couldn't get that to work. Tried with the barrels set to strength at varies numbers (it says 0 indicates invulnerability) and explodable to yes but nothing happens when spawned.

Or if you're really really lazy you could just 'show' the decal, use a timer, and then hide it again.
Just saying
