Hey i love and use GameGuru daily, and did not abandon it.
And yes i was hired full time by TGC to make AppGameKit Studio, and i can tell you that working with something you love like game making tools means that you actually spent all your time, it's not just a 8:00 - 16:00 job
Now i have to be careful what i write as my boss Lee might be watching this
, but i love GameGuru and AGK and have also tried to smuggle some GameGuru features into AppGameKit Studio, like your able to edit Lua files and GameGuru shaders directly in the IDE, .fpe files will display with there original preview image , you can preview 3D media like .x,.fbx,.obj,.3ds ... and drag/drop png textures directly to the preview to see how your model looks ( also include drag/drop of your normal textures ).
What "I" like AppGameKit Studio to be, is a everyday tool you use for all your TGC programming needs, no matter if its GameGuru Lua/Shaders or AGK Script/OpenGL/Vulkan Shaders. You will be able to do the job! But not all of this is part of the job description so i have to use my limited spare time to smuggle things like this in.
Also i do have a private GameGuru branch of GameGuru with some memory and video updates/bug fixes that i will finish when i'm done with the first release version of AppGameKit Studio , and i have some more spare time, so a GameGuru update is definitely coming soon
