So now that my book has gotten to the publisher I have a glut of creative work I'm trying to work through. I've been working on some new tools for sky generation and while initially I liked these skies, I have to say I'm not very impressed now so I'm going to offer them as free downloads for anyone interested.

These skies are 4k resolution but can easily be scaled down to any size you desire (2048x2048, 1024x1024, 768x768, etc). It's your call. They're in PNG format.

So while I feel like these are throwaways, maybe some of you can use them or are interested in them. The vastly superior 4k skies I am keeping for sale will be on the store sometime very soon.

Some screenshots of these skies:
'Blue Magenta Nebula'

'Old stars still burn'

'terran with ring'

Issues I have with them:
- Point stars look like flares, not stars
- Perspective skewing/warping of planetoids
- Nebula colors and disposition are unimpressive
- Lack of background elements such as globular clusters, spiral galaxies, etc.

For example take one of the ones that will go on the store soon:

No skewing, better background elements, better proportion and detail on the planet, etc.

That said, my loss is your gain.
You can grab the skies from this link:

Enjoy!

Is that a solar sail on the ship-station there?
Looks great. Glad to see the backdrop works out for you.

It is supposed to be the warp drive kicking in, But the shaders are not ready for that yet. Nothing that looks decent anyways.
The ship is made up of 7 pieces right now. Set in the editor at the same insert point.
