Product Chat / Map Filesize stays the same after deletion of all enities.

I have this scenario:
I made a map and its done. now I delete all placed entities and keep a few scripts only because I wanna keep the terrain. First map's filesize is about 50mb
I Save it as map_2 and continue to work on "level 2".

The filesize of the map stays the same even with everything deleted. why is that? Shouldnt it be way lower again?
any idea how to change it other than making a completely new map?

The biggest files in the map file are not the entity registry. It is about 11 kb in galaxy seed for me.
So you will not recognise a big difference.
Just open the map file(with zip program like 7zip) and you can see which files are there. map.ele is the entity registration for the map. This is just a text file and should not have much kb

Deleting entities wont reduce the map size (at least not by much) entities aren't stored in the map file, theyre just text references.

Primary Desktop:
i7 7700,k NV1070 8GB, 16GB 3200mhz memory, 1x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.

Is it light mapped? That's the biggest addition to the map file size but as said, entities themselves won't really increase the map's file size.

Maybe you need build lightmap again or change to realtime lighting if you use sun and then save map
