Hi all

Just wondering why we have to fight when it come to Glass and not with Trees?

Recently I was making Toonland Jet Plane which has Glass on it, and it presented the constant battle we have to get glass to work on models like this.

I model in Blender, use Wings for smoothing, and Fragmotion for final export, but even though the glass was in the right position it simply didn't work in Game Guru. In the end I just exported from Wings, rather than from Fragmotion and the glass worked perfectly.

At the moment I am working on trees and it struck me that with these, transparency just works, without any messing\fiddling\fighting with either the modelling process or with Game Guru.

So I guess it is to do with the shaders - or is there more to it than that....

Personally I think this belongs in Product Chat with a discussion tag, and where there is traffic, but that is my rebellious side

Reliquia....

Because with trees the teansparency is full transparency, the shader simply does not render a texture in the transparent part theres no calculations gor the engine to make. Whereas with glass its semitransparent so it renders that part as see through, but to make it see through just enough it has to calculate how much transparence there should be etc. Thats why full transparency like trees is easier than partial transpatency like glass.
