Hi. I'm trying to get an item finished and was fairly happy with it until I tried the flashlight. It becomes totally white when in the glare and I am not sure what I can do to avoid that. I'm using dns textures at present as I have not yet got into pbr.
Here they look okay so far.

Here they look washed out by the flashlight.

I've tried all sorts with the specular map but made little to no difference. Does anyone know what map or maps are affected by the spotlight? Is there any way I can reduce that glare a touch?

...maybe the specularmap (S) is too bright? Brightness down, contrast up and test

I've tried that I've tried several (no many, many) settings with no luck Thanks for the suggestion. That's why I wondered if the light affects more than the specular map? Perhaps I need to lower the diffuse colour to help offset it. I've tried both the standard dns shader and the apbr one. The apbr looks a little better overall, but both exhibit this problem. Perhaps I need to get rid of the self illumination map as it is not needed? I'll go try that

Edit - Nope, it was named incorrectly anyway, so not being used, the automatic name from Mindtex. I deleted it anyway just to be sure GG wasn't using it regardless. My desk, which is the first object I made for GG seems to work reasonably in comparison, which is good, lol.

Tried converting the textures to PBR to see if it makes much diff. Can't see a lot, the metal probably looks less metallic than before and the killer, just as stupidly white in the flashlight
I'm not sure if I'm flogging a dead horse here. Perhaps the flashlight just doesn't work well with small items.
