After failing miserably at scripting I searched the forums for a moving platform that actually works out of the box.
I found many scripts make platforms move but none that allowed the player to get on the platform and get off of the platform.
There were some that did not allow freelook.
There were some that did absolutely nothing.
Here is my question.
Is there a moving platform script that truly works well with the current version of GG out of the box, if so where can I get it?

I have seen mention of a program called "Visual LUA".
Any info on that?

I downloaded the file from https://forum.game-guru.com/thread/215026
It has:
fast_enemy.lua
poison_flower.lua
poison_flower_walkable.lua
slow_enemy.lua

Nothing for platforms.

That's not the DLC. You have to purchase the DLC, and unfortunately, that particular DLC is only available around Easter time. I don't really know why, they should make it available year round.

Nice that they made it free! You're right, no link, but it used to be only available around Easter. Perhaps that is still the case. You could email Lee and ask.

It's a shame that we can't just put the script up here for you to use. I'm sure no harm would be done, but laws are laws.

I was just looking in the Easter folder. I don't even see a platform script, nor do I see a moving platform in the demo game!

I don't recall any Platform section or demo for a platform ever in the Easter pack …
There isn't a Platform script that's for sure .. The only one I recall are small's free ones
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

I bought it back when it came out. Never actually did look at it except maybe some of the assets. There are "platforms" in there. I just took a jaunt through the demo level now. Is it supposed to be blurry like that or are my chemo drugs affecting my vision that much?

There should be a platform script in the easter dlc, i distinctly remember Lee or Ravey doing a stream about it too.

Also, there used to be a default floating platform script, it was added in April 2016 to show off the player association commands that were added it was called floating_platform.lua

Nope, wasn't there, but smallg's is. Only downside of smallg's is you don't stay on the platform when it moves.

There is a "floating platform" script and on that link you provided there is a "floating platform2" script. Neither appear to do anything, though.

Perhaps they are dated. Cybernescence has a video on that page and it's working fine. Unless I've set my platform up wrong...

I have tried those scripts as well.
They do nothing at all.

I have tried several platform scripts also, and I couldn't get any of them to work so good...

I wanted one for my cowboy game so the player could have a shootout while standing on top of a moving train. None of the scripts here in the forum worked so good. I asked AmenMoses for some help, but either he had difficulty figuring it out or he got busy with some other stuff.

I'd be willing to pay good money for a good platform script.

I even tried to write some scripts in Visual scripter, but my scripting skills are terrible.

The floating_platform.lua that comes with GG allows the player to get on and ride but cannot move or get off of it until it goes back the other dirrection. At that point the player cannot say on if they wish to as the platform slides out from under them if they try.

Attached files so you can try it out for yourself.

Put the script in scriptbank\platform_stuff

btw, my scripts may not always do exactly what you want them to do but they never 'do nothing'.

I use first person.
The player can get on the platform but cannot get off of it and is restricted to one corner of the platform and cannot move from there.
I feel there must be something missing.
I do not know enough to know what it is.

Works fine for me in FP.

It's a very old script btw, one of the first things I wrote when I was still learning Lua and GG, I would probably do it completely differently now.

You'll have to follow the threads back to the original one to find the full instructions on use btw.

@Incenseman2003

I was referring to software made by someone in this forum, which was called CodeWorks: Visual Scripting Framework. It helps people learn to make Lua scripts. The words in the scripts fit together like puzzle pieces. You can check out at these forum links:
