I know there are commands to hide/show terrain/water but I can not find one to switch off the physics so you can for example set up a subway or tunnel underground.

Not thinking that is possible yet.
The only solution I can think of is to in the setup.inI file set the water height to 50 and the terrain height to 100.
In a model program.
Make or have a terrain made of the ground layout you want using polycollision of 1.

Cut out the openings that you want to access your subterrain stuff.

Or you can jump to a different map when wanting to go underground and build your subways on the terrain.

When you want to come out of the sewer, then you switch to an above ground map.

The only option we have is CollisionOff(entity ID) which obviously does not include the terrain. But the obvious solution to this sort of problem is to transport to a new location which is higher than your terrain - also not visible from any point in your game Of course, you will need objects to replace the terrain, as it can't really be used effectively for underground use.

Thanks for the suggestions.
When I think about it more turning of terrain physics would probably be a bit of a let down for the more dynamic entities . Though being able to stop the interaction just for the player would make game design a bit easier.

Oh well life's full of compromises.
Thanks for the replies teleporting to hidden structures was how I have got round it before. Just thought with all the new commands.
ho-hum

That would take a completely different terrain approach at the moment.
