Could someone post the tips to
locate and edit the INI file for the runtime
to speed up the runtime ?

and please , make this sticky.
I searched over a hour and found nothing, but i remember
that i read about that problem months ago.
(did ever preben post this ? )

I got only a GTS450 and very low FPS (< 15 for the BigEscape level )

Are you running a laptop or desktop …
Your probably referring to this comment by Preben but only really for Laptops

Quote: "I know this will not fix any hardware related issues , but if you got the "public preview" version, i added a "#define LAPTOP" option in "\files\effectbank\reloaded\settings.fx" if you enable this option by removing the "\\" infront of that line , it will nearly double your FPS. "

Hopefully the suggestion above helps.

However there is no way you can expect GameGuru to run anywhere near acceptably on a nvidia GTS 450, that card is from 2010 and is massively outdated, no number of optimizations will ever make that run smoothly to be honest it is a miracle it even runs.

To give an idea of just how slow that card is it only has 192 cuda cores and half decent nvidia cards which can run GameGuru reasonably well have 1000-2000, remember that developing games takes far more horsepower than running them as nothing is optimized.

The only suggestion here really is to buy a new card.
Windows 10, Intel i7 4.2 GHz, 16GB DDR4, NVIDIA GTX 780 4GB Superclocked (Passmark: 8056)

Can you verify that it still works? I always get an runtime error if I recompile my shaders! I will create a github issue if someone can verify it.

@Rings
in the setup.ini you can set
Quote: "dividetexturesize=16"

your textures looks like crap, but you will have some FPS more. If it runs well now, you can lower this value. Standard is 1.
and set

I concure with " The next "
Unless its a Laptop with no way to upgrade I would get a newer card.
Best investment you will make for your PC now and for the future.

thx for all your hints.

and some feedback on my hardware:

i also set all shadows to zero and got more than 25fps in the Big Escape level, more then 44FPS in the Classic level
and also >26FPS in the Death Valley.
All tests with this old GTS 450 on a A10 5800 CPU.
seems a workaround for now.

With another pc (i5 and nvidia 1030) i raise the 40 fps without those tricks, with tricks hit the magic 60 FPS,
all in the BigEscape level, same also on the death valley level.

The gt 1030 card ( an entry passive card under 80€ ) hits 2224 points on the 3d benchmark, the gts450 only 1558. (source: videocardbenchmark.net) . a 1050 ti hits 5995 (triple the speed, double the cost)

those are the points that count.

There are a lot of parameters to tweak ,
is there any documentation for those INI and fx files?

Great you have it working to your satisfaction.

I personally though, would never buy a video card with less than an 060 on the end ( not for gaming). The cards before that really are not gaming cards by any means. I used to work in computer retail and I can't begin to tell you how often the same people came in upgrading their video cards. Always sticking with the low end new cards. They would have been far better off saving their cash and investing in a real gaming card They ended up spending near as much or more on different cards over the year!
SPECS: Ryzen 1700 CPU. Nvidia 970GTX. 16 Gig Memory. Win 10.
