I hope to create an improved set of deciduous trees for use in GG. I will use this thread, periodically, to update any progress. The attachment illustrates current progress. The building shown is for scale only.
Any criticism, suggestions or comments are welcome.

EDIT: I'm now implementing a concept for tree branches that only uses 2 polys for each branch. The method solves the problem of branches disappearing as The image is view from different angles. This also eliminates the large number of polys required when using a true 3d object for branches. (single planes versus 3d objects)

@Solar
Thanks for the comment. I have added a couple later screen shots in the top post. (further improvements, Polys have been reduced by about 12% using the new tree branch system.)

Latest Cedar tree. Attachment on the far right contains an image of just a single new cedar tree.

@Gtox

Granada, thanks for the check-in and comment. I am a thinkin I might just start a series of abandoned shacks to complement the tree work.
Any thoughts...? Might need both for outdoor work. Kind of an isolated thing, but everyone needs a hobby, right...

Short video illustrating transparent broken glass. All elements of this shack model are contained in one x file including the glass. Glass is not a standalone x file that needs to be placed into the model while in the editor.
I'm only using the -color.dds overlay at this time for expedience (while testing glass). needless to say I found a workaround in my modeling software.

Single texture... 2048x2048. One "X" file only.
Using the modeling software I use (ac3d) I am able place the glass (after the building is complete) into the openings provided (as the last things drawn) in the model.
I can then capture just the glass as a "group", and slide it out of the building proper. Then ac3d allows me to merge the building meshes, with out the glass, and covert it into a single object. Then I slide the glass back to it's original location in the building and then save the composite as the final "x" file.

This process means a seperate "x" file containing just the glass for INSERTION into the building when in the gg editor is NOT required.
The window transparency is set using paint.net, the software I use to create the texture file (-color.dds).

I have no idea what modeling software others are using so this explanation maybe of no real value.

The problem...
The price of Ac3d software has more then doubled in the last several years. My last free upgrade was in 2016 now it looks like if I wanted the latest it goes for a bunch. There is a free 15 day trial version for people interested in testing out the software.
Please be aware that in my references to how I use the software, should not be taken as any recommendation for others to use said software.
Due diligence required... best of luck. Also there is a required (free) plugin to create "X" files.

Dave,
You could be right, but only after we get a new beta, something the majority is using. Everything is working fine but I have a feeling not a lot of people are using the public preview. Anyway the glass trick still works. See the attachment...
