Hi..
After a long time, I started a new little project again. City center should be the topic. I was amazed how easy it is to build a complete street with 3 to 4 different types of houses, a few walls and garages. I uploaded some pictures. On closer inspection, you can see that well. My experience with pbr is limited, so I prefer to use it sparingly. I also find too much gloss and reflections in places where it is not so common, rather exaggerated. But of course, for example, the window panes contain reflections, which, however, can not be displayed so well in the picture. Here are my first results.

Best regards Andreas

Great pics there,i think its just the strait lines that need breaking up a little to make it look more worn .A few bumps and dips in the road and kerbs would make all the difference i think, but i like the look .it would look great light mapped to

I agree with everyone else here, this is a great project and really shows off what GG can do now. But as granada said you definitely need a few bumps, cracks in the road surface or even holes. Well done and hope to see more pics as the project progresses.

Awesome stuff here - but I think the light-mapper will just trash it atm.

Agree with a few bumps and stuff, and it would also look more realistic with some dirt at the base of the trees.

But great job so far Andreas

Is it just me or does Game Guru just look really good now?

By the way what are the FPS for that map like?

Hi..
Many Thanks. I have just started the project. But the street and sidewalk are being redesigned. The trees are still old stocks. I will build new ones. I think they also get an enclosure (cobblestone ring). Of course you could also pollute the facade socket a bit. Maybe I will work with overlays because of the individual design. I want to try to rasterize all the models so they can be set quickly. All I have to do now is test a little how to equip the objects. Otherwise it will be a package with many models.

P.S. There was in the translation: the facade box will spoil

@ reliquia about 40 FPS

So, here's another way. Slightly rotted street, lowering for garage, tree with edging. It goes on...

Now that is more realistic, nice one Lafette, this could be an image taken with a camera.

Hi..
Thanks for all the comments. I'm still busy building. In addition, I am currently designing a small city-map to make the whole thing a bit more tangible. I've just finished a beer pub that brings a bit of depth. That will show the video. A picture of the pub by day and night is now ever. It's not easy with the lightmapping. The lanterns then lose their luminosity and thus look a bit strange. Likewise, the gloss effect disappears. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
But here:

Lol - I can't get anything to lightmap atm, and from what I read in other threads PBR is meant to be ignored by the process.

That is just the way I imagined it!

Looking great so far

Hi...

Yes. I also saw that the cullmode was no longer visible after the lightmapping (trees). That's not so bad, I think. This is not relevant for daytime scenes.
The picture a little jerky, is safe on my old PC. It is an AMD A8 6600k with a GTX 650 packed with it. Not exactly 1st league.

As promised, first running pictures of the center of the small town. Not including the vehicles. Likewise the models in the further background. A little bit I have to work on the facades. Then a few props for the streets are also to be created, I just do not know what I want to pack in there.

Hi...

Thanks to all. I'm glad if you like it. Yes, I'll make some small details (bicycle stand, billboard, maybe a few shelves) and then it can be uploaded. I once again succumbed to the delusion, still something to build, but I'm already at about 80 parts, and think slowly to stop. The upload will take a lot of time again. I hope I can do it before the 10th of August.

Looks great. Maybe experiment with some "Y" shaped intersections to help break up the grid and shorten some of those longer draw distances.

..Hi

Thanks to all.
I will come to the conclusion now. The objects nearly kill me. You can always add things. But eventually it has to be over.
I added a couple of little animations to lighten things up a bit.

I could do so many things. But unfortunately I do not have enough time now. I would have to change the basic structures so that the houses can simply be strung together. I have done everything so that the objects can be easily set. You just have to pay attention to the heights, everything else goes almost by itself. The rest of the equipment is individual anyway. But the idea is good, of course. Away from the squaring. Maybe I'll dedicate it to that.

So, I hope, one or the other likes a bit and is at least partially useful. By the way, an indicated high street as a background object is also included. Now I will start to put the parts together. Time will be running out to do everything before my vacation.

See you...

Hi ...
I hastily finished the pack now. It is available at the store. I hope the stuff is somehow useful. I have designed everything so that it is very easy to design entire street trains. I will deal with the package again, probably offer a few free models on the subject, but I have very little time.

See you...

Quick question: Is there supposed to be a door for the pub building?

No. There is an object (pub_glass) that closes the gap. It only serves to give the building a bit of depth. I usually make transparent parts separately to avoid problems with the presentation.
You can not enter the buildings.

Ahh! But I CAN enter the pub! The reason I asked is in your video, you have a door on the pub. My pub has no door, and I can walk into it! Was just curious. Just gotta find a door!

You have to use the object pub_glass. This contains a fake door and 2 windows. Everything can be placed well if you press the B key twice before.
