If the gun is exported with any kind of angle in the aiming animations, you may need to calibrate your tuning settings for specific weapon FoV slider setting. If it used to be fine but then suddenly changed, it could be that your maps have different settings for this.
If the gun was exported too far off center you and you make correction via simplesoomx adjustments, the sights may line up but it will still feel a bit wrong if the model has any amount of surface detail behind the rear sights (rifles, primarily). For best results, the weapon should be dead center in the model animation and only the vertical (simplezoomy) offsets should be used in gunspec.
Ideally, weapons should have =0 settings for horiz, vert, and forward settings and zeroed out simplezoomx/y settings if they use iron sights. There is usually a little bit of model shift in GG vertically which necessitates very small simplezoomy adjustments (less than 0.20) but the other settings can (and should) generally be zeroed in the model's aiming animations. The offset settings primarily exist for legacy weapons which did not include separate anims for aiming.
