I've been playing with BSP's WW2 weapons for a while trying to fix the misaligned iron sights.

After getting some encouraging results by modifing the simplezoomx and simplezoomy values, I noticed that yes, the sights looked great but they were also considerably off relative to the conventional crosshair/screen centre.

Is there any direct gunspec command to shift the whole gun model? (some kind of easy-mode to avoid messing with Fragmotion? )

In the meantime I will take a look at that old thread on iron sights back in the days of FPSC: if I remember correctly there was video explaining the whole procedure to manually fix the problem...

;//Model positions

horiz = 2
vert = -1
forward = 2

Thanks for the imput!

I tried fixing the gun model position using the "horiz" command, but it has no effect when the player is using the iron sights as they are still unaligned... it seems that the "simplezoomy" command overrides or interferes with "horiz"

Just now getting into lua scripting, fpe editing, and gunspec tweaking so I may be entirely ignorant here but if you added horiz at the end, try putting it at the beginning of the gunspec so it is adjusted first maybe?

If the gun is exported with any kind of angle in the aiming animations, you may need to calibrate your tuning settings for specific weapon FoV slider setting. If it used to be fine but then suddenly changed, it could be that your maps have different settings for this.

If the gun was exported too far off center you and you make correction via simplesoomx adjustments, the sights may line up but it will still feel a bit wrong if the model has any amount of surface detail behind the rear sights (rifles, primarily). For best results, the weapon should be dead center in the model animation and only the vertical (simplezoomy) offsets should be used in gunspec.

Ideally, weapons should have =0 settings for horiz, vert, and forward settings and zeroed out simplezoomx/y settings if they use iron sights. There is usually a little bit of model shift in GG vertically which necessitates very small simplezoomy adjustments (less than 0.20) but the other settings can (and should) generally be zeroed in the model's aiming animations. The offset settings primarily exist for legacy weapons which did not include separate anims for aiming.
