Hi all

GG is no more running since the new update... I'm getting this error message "entry point of process strncpy_s can't be found in dynamic librairy msvcrt.dll"

GG was working very fine up to this update...

I have checked file integrity, restarted my computer but none of it fix the error...

I'm running on Windows XP.

Would anyone have any idea of how to fix this issue ?

WOW Windows XP LOL there is a blast from the past It may be possible that your msvcrt.dll is older version. Go to C:\Windows\System32 and right-click on msvcrt.dll, select Properties and see the version. For SP3 it should be 7.0.2600

the safest way to repair it is re-install SP3 for windows XP good luck finding it though I may have it in an archive somewhere I will have a look for you

entry point of process strncpy_s can't be found in dynamic librairy msvcrt.dll << that's a link btw!

That's probably the cause but not sure what the proper fix would be, one for the GitHub issues page methinks.
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

Windows Xp does not support DirectX11

Quote: "Until I hit the air, I hope your move to the DirectX 11 update goes smoothly, and if you find that your card only goes up to DirectX 9, you can continue using the build you had before by simply going to the beta tab and selecting "Public-Release-LastDX9" option."

HI guys
Thanks for your replys...

@ Graphix : yes it is the right version of the msvcrt.dll

I think time has come for me to upgrade to W7.... With a bit of stress, runnig on XP for the past 12 years and not a single bug or trouble shooting ...

Cheers

I have got he XP sp3 package lol but I don't think it would help you you are welcome to try but I think it is best if you move to a 64bit system either windows 7 or windows 10, I did not like windows 10 at first but now I would never go back to windows 7, that being said windows 7 is much better than XP, you may be lucky I had an old windows 7 PC that I have resurrected for doing GG testing and I was surprised it updated to windows 10 for free this was only a few weeks ago long after the free upgrade period

good luck with whatever you choose if ya need help just give us a shout

As the other users suggested this is not a GameGuru bug as GameGuru now requires DirectX11 which is not supported on Windows XP. Windows 7 is now the min operating system that is supported, support for Windows XP has been removed.
