We now have PBR illumination , supporting _i and _illumination textures, both for static and animated objects.
No need to do anything, if it see a illumination texture it will replace the detail texture, and also switch to the needed illumination shader for you, so it will work out of the box with old and new media.

Everything will be sent to the repo for Lee to approve, and hopefully you see it in the next PP version.

I think this is just in his branch on github, waiting to be approved. So not yet added.

I saw a merge that Lee did so I think it is all in the master, not sure if it is in the latest Beta though, haven't looked at any Beta releases for a while.
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

Just for inspiration , this is how oldpman (old models) use illumination to kind of "lightmap" a room.
