excuse my dum question but i was under the impression that when you are in the editor and you press f11 and deactivate the terrain , and when you save and make a stand alone game that you will not see the terrain. but i still see it in the stand alone game. is this normal or not.

the idea was to make a water map and only lower the terrain a few meters under the water and then deactivate the terrain to give the impression of a deep sea effect. but in the stand alone you still see the ground.

any ideas what i can do.

ok so that means until they give us the option to have no terrain /or hide it. , we have to live with it for now .

No we have been able to easily do this for ages .. Do you have "goindoors.lua" or "disablefloorwater.lua "
Either of these will hide the terrain and I think both are in the script bank as default.

The hide it but it's really still there, you can't position objects below it for example.

What might be easier is to just have your terrain lowered or you water raised and have the player running around on an invisible platform.
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

If you want all water then Lee added my " ALLWATER.fpm " which will do that for you
See if that works for you .. just raise the ground for an island or whatever

I am using the ALLWATER.fpm ,, and then i have also lowered the ground some more around the area were i am going to build my map , so that looks nice now.

yes i have the goindoors.lua . if i use it will it actually also give me some more fps in the stand alone game or not.

It most certainly will but you need to trigger it when you actually go indoors or preferably an indoor level ..
There is also " gooutdoors.lua " to turn it back on what you go outside ...

So ideally you want to enter an area that triggers " goindoors.lua " but you don't want to be able to exit the way you came in so you are all ok to activate " gooutdoors.lua " just before you exit the indoor area ... Hope that all makes sense ..

If you completely remove the terrain logic (which isnt possible) , AI won't work properly. So even if you make it invisible the terrain information is still there for AI to operate. As far as my understanding.

In general hiding terrain or water is VERY easy and only a single line of LUA code:

HideTerrain()
HideWater()

As synchromesh suggested, you already have the script there for you to achieve this if you don't want to get into any coding.
