Hey guys, I noticed some really amazing stuff going on right now in the gg world and I want to post an update about my project " Cold Contract".
And I also have something new for you!

I will keep this short and brief.
Since the GitHub thing was invented, things really started to move. I anounced my "break" from gameguru only to come back after 2 weeks due to a Wave of creativity that hit me

I am in contact with Lee and he is currently checking my "Cold Contract" Project. The issues will get less in time I believe.

No matter what happens to Cold Contract, I learned a lot with it and this will influence my newest Project wich doesnt have a name yet !

Bottom Line is, I am back in the game and happy about the things that happen lately. Gotta use that last months bevore my new Job starts and I wont have much time for... quite some Time. lol

It's really a goal for me to make a game somewhat like Stalker. (yeah I am a big fan of it) And this is the closest I got so far.

BUT NOW, WHAT YOU CAME FOR AFTER ALL: Here are some screens and videos!

Wow wow wow! This looks very promising!

I love the atmosphere in the video clips, especially the skyboxes, fog and the foliage. I'm a great fan of STALKER as well, and I think you have captured the feeling of that type of game very well.

I'm looking forward to both of your projects, I truly think that they are very good. Well done, Duchenkuke!

Thanks very much solar

Maybe I will combine both projects into one or they will stay separate... I really cant tell. At the moment I am just trying stuff out.
The memory issues are still there and I want a game with lightmaps.. that means I will have to wait until its fixed anyway

This has such an awesome atmosphere. It feels so cold and desolate. Well done Duchenkuke! You've inspired me to continue work on my GG project (which hasn't been touched for several centuries)

Hi, not sure if I am correct or not, or maybe you dont need this. Though I watched your Lighting and Sound test video and couldn't help notice the Hazmat guys. Level design had a very exploring feel and I like the warping.

I've attached a custom passive .fpe and icon (it uses the same .x and texture) has an animated idle and passive walk animation on waypoint for you. Keep up the great work.

I really like the lighting here, but the lack of any shadows really makes the scene not look as good as it is supposed to be.

I'm blown away by that environment design. Would loooove to explore your creation when it's done.

Regarding the sound design. It's top notch, perhaps you could tone down the volume of the dreary music. It felt a bit overwhelming at certain points and it somewhat muted the natural sounds of the environment (crows, screaming, wolf howls etc)

Thanks landman. There is a playable version of this game tho - its rather a test. nothing more.

The final product will not use that level anymore, I had to start from scratch due to performance issues... once again

I RESTARTED THIS PROJECT 4 TIMES NOW TIME FOR GG TO GIT GUD !

Hey, yeah no worries. And I am sure you will find what you need to do (sadly most times it is limiting player space) though from your recent videos your doing it right. Keep going.

LEE WE WANT THIS LIGHTING... hey Duce, is this the right thread? XD

First of all. What the heck is wrong with the water?
Secondly, the fog feels real off. There is something very cool about having clear skies (I also intend the puns).

Well, great level.
But to be honest I would stop playing after 5 mins. the level is too grey.
The overlay with the water drops is cool
But the colors from the video before are really great, beautiful sky.
Old school FPS fan, DOOM!!! Why GG not working on my AMIGA 500?

Your game is looking fantastic Duchenkuke! I agree with MooKai though. I liked it better with a little color from the video before your latest one. And don't take this the wrong way, I like the way they both look. I'll tell you this! I play stalker also. And your game is dead on! I can tell you been working your donkey off on it. I know what you mean about starting over. I put in many long hours working on games. As soon as I get close to finishing up a level, everything breaks. It happens mostly when I get to the very end. I did finish a level once. I loaded it up just to clean up some grass that was on a road. You know some touch up stuff. I called my teenage son over to test it out. And all of the ai stopped working. I ended up trashing that game.

the fog looks good, and its a great way to increase frame rate by reducing the camera view distance, and the lack of shadows, thats also to get better frame rate too. i like this. great stuff

You all do realise this could just be a specific scenario in the game? Or just periodic weather effects?

Keep at it Duchenkuke! You're doing a fantastic job. The inventory is interesting, that must be quite a huge script running! Impressive!

Thanks guys for all your opinions and comments!
Very interesting how people think of it ^^

And that inventory script is from smallg. Kudos to him
Amen Moses did the vehicle script - its a work in progress still.
I retexured every entity there is in the level just to fit that grey look.

Here is another video:

And yeah, the reason I went for this look is this video:
There is a fantastic fallout 4 mod wich has exactly that style.
It is horror themed and I love it.
Really dark and scary feeling

I'm envious. Wow!

Did you gray-scale each entity texture or is the overall feel determined by using the saturation slider? I'm just wondering because the color pallet in that fallout mod has is only somewhat desaturated and not 90% grey. Your vegetation and landscape seem nearly grey

This is being picky, but the draw distance seems shorted than your fog distance so at some points you can see the hills disappearing because of the draw distance (example look on the right hand side of the video at 20 seconds as you're turning left).

nah the fog is way closer than the draw distance the fog only doesnt have the same colour as the skybox, hence why you can see the transition.

Quote: "Your vegetation and landscape seem nearly grey"

yea, this is intentional and looks fine when you play it
It is a overcast wheather type in a abandoned (autumn season( area - so this is the colours how I want them lol

No problem, I am thankful for every comment i get!

Pretty heavy on atmosphere!
I can't wait to play this and see what gameplay ideas you come up with.
