hi
i am following game guru for long time and i am thinking about buying it now that there is a very nice discount for the holidays.
my question is: does it really work?
there is no demo version to try it and the videos on youtube seem very generic, every time i downloaded some game from here or there ,it was or really bad quality (in therms of gameplay) or just froze .
i am not sure if it's the engine or just bad devs.
i am not sure if i should ask it here since probably you all love the engine if you are here but i really want to know it from someones who really knows the engine and have made something good with(that works and has more then one level).
can you link me to some workable downloadable finished games?

^^ Depends. You can not expect studio quality from a single developer and it vastly differs depending on your skill level.

Example Projects:

Space Losers

Kshatriya Origins

Cold Contract

Shavra Renaissance

Redacted² : Bulletblues (downloadable)

Cogwheel Chronicles

Check these out and let me know what you think. GG has its flaws but its certainly capable if the dev using it is too. I guess this is more or less true in most engines. Making custom gameplay in GG is a hassle currently but a lot of people manage to do some quite neat things. Especially Amen Moses and Cybernescence.

for just 20 dollars its like the price of 3 lunches. So its totally worth the risk of downloading and trying out for yourself. If its not for you , its still a great intro tool into game design.

GameGuru at the moment is £5:99 GBP

Its more than worth it for the 6 gig of royalty free assets ... Show me a 6 gig royalty free model pack on the internet for 8 bucks.
Having GameGuru with it is just the bonus

For that sort of money you can’t go wrong, I think this is the best time to jump onboard with the new update almost ready.lots more to come.

You could probably find most of that if you just lift the cushions off your settee and chairs .
Usually works for me in an emergency

Yeah, at its normal price it is a give-a-way, at that price it is a complete steal....

We all would love to make an awesome game - I guess that is mainly why we are here - but just remember making a game is not easy, no matter what engine you use.

There are a lot of disciplines to master in game development, a good engine is just a small part of the process. Game Guru can be frustrating at times, it has its flaws that will take time to sort (unless we can find a way to reliably clone Lee), but it is just fun to use.

One of Game Gurus biggest assets is the community behind it - if you want help - in any of the disciplines required to make game - it is here on these forums - for nicks. That is awesome value in my book!

Game Guru can help you achieve that goal, and is great fun to use - at that price, what are you waiting for?

Reliquia....

"does game guru really works?"
Short answer: yes

You can create some nice 1st person shooters/action-adv/walking sims.
3rd person shooters/action-adv/walking sims/platformer , top-down games and some more.
For 2D games there're other engines. If you want to create another Monkey Island 1, use Fusion 2.5
No, you can not really develop GTA 6 with it.... (or) no...
Also RPGs are a challenge at the moment. Call of Duty WW2 would be hard to copy as 1 man dev. at the moment.

A DOOM clone? Yes
Old school FPS fan, DOOM!!! Why GG not working on my AMIGA 500?

thanks for all the great answers!
yeah sure it is cheap at the moment and i am really thinking about buying it and i will probably be joining this community.
you seem like a great bunch.
the main reason i asked was not because of the money,it was about not wasting my time learning a new engine and working on projects that only i can play on test mode.
not that i am hoping too much of it ,i can clearly see the capabilities and restrictions by watching the demos and youtube videos.
i am currently using gms and it's a great tool but i am looking to make some 3d without coding.
i want to make something like the firsts two "syphon filter" or so.
